Cyanide's Werewolf: The Apocalypse

Oh, what is this? A game where you play as a werewolf?

It could be interesting, do we know anything about it?

Okay, speaking as a man who played 100s of hours of Vampire and Werewolf.

What the hell?

They got an adaptation of Werewolf before Bloodlines 2?

For those unfamiliar with W:TA:

Taking place in the same universe as Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse is a game where you all werewolves are descendants of humans (or wolves) empowered by spirits to protect Gaia from the corrupted Wyrm (Spirit of Balance, now Spirit of Destruction). Werewolves are part of a tribal society which are ruled by violence and politics which are now completely useless in keeping the Wyrm at bay since they no longer live in bogs and caves but behind boardrooms as well as government officials.

The chief incarnation of the Wyrm in true Gothic Punk fashion is Pentex Incorporated, the world's largest multinational which exists for the purposes of causing as much pain and suffering as possible for their masters so they will be rewarded with material wealth on Earth as well as bring the apocalypse closer.

Werewolf society is torn apart because some werewolves are homicidal luddites, some have adapted to human society, some are literally insane, and many have ancient feuds dating back millennium because they reincarnate when they die. Werewolves are also racist pricks as they keep their human non-werewolf relations as breeding stock and servants. Werewolves who breed together sire deformed sterile children called Metis (inappropriately named, FYI) who are outcasts from traditional werewolf society and often vulnerable to corruption by the Wyrm.

They also hate vampires.

Question: Did the Werewolf universe get kinda retconned in th early 2000's like Vampire did post Gahenna etc ?

Yes, but they retconned it back like two years ago. It's all back to the original World of Darkness.

Just the apocalypse/Gehenna never happened.

There's was a gaming magazine my cousin read that had a series of extensive special coverage articles dealing with the setting and lore, and I really loved it - I think I was around 10-12 at the time. I've never played it tho, so if they make a decent RPG I'm going to be very happy...but I'm also highly doubtful that's gonna happen.

@joevonzombie You should edit the title, there's a spelling error.

The problem with this game will be I will want to side with Pentex and not the eco-terrorists but I know it will not end good for my character.

No problem there. Just good roleplaying.

Let's face it, Pentex is LIFE!

It's like the best parts of being a Captain Planet villain with being a corporate douchebag!

I can already see a lot of clawing through buttonmashing.
I hope the combat is at least serviceable enough. I don't expect great things in that area. I hope the writing will be good enough to for me to overlook any shortcomings with the combat.
