Cyberpunk 2077

So what's the current situation on the date and software? I'm open for anything, but I'll have to insist on it happening on a Friday or Saturday depending on the time.

If @Millim won't be free, I know one gal from CP2077 forum who can play GM for this event.

Ah looks like this may have to happen, I probably won't get a lot of time this week to really do it.

But if it turns out alright, I don't mind GMing something in the new year.

A CD Projekt Red e-mail describes the plot as such:

In Cyberpunk 2077, the player will be thrown into a dark future. The metropolis of Night City is a stage set to tell the tale of one individual, raised on the streets, who tries to lift himself up from the gutter and find a way to survive amongst boostergangs and megacorporations in a city of filth and sin. Drugs, violence, poverty and exclusion haven’t disappeared by 2077, as people stayed as they were for centuries – greedy, closed-minded and weak.

But not only ghosts of the past trouble mankind, but new issues have appeared. Psychos go on rampages and the streets are filled with junkies addicted to a new form of entertainment – the braindance, a cheap way to experience the emotions and stimuli of someone else, someone living a more exciting life. Braindances are digital recordings of a person’s experience. The viewer can stream a braindance directly into his neural system via special brain augmentations, called a BD player. Braindances allow the viewer to experience all brain processes registered, including emotions, muscle movements and all stimuli perceived by the recording person.

The range of themes of these recordings varies from simple braindances made by megacorporations, which e.g. allow the viewer to feel the full experience of an explorer with all its thrills, sweats, smells, views, sounds and the real feeling of curiosity that pushes men to go beyond the horizon against fear and physical weakness. But there are also more controversial sides of braindance, because some recordings are created illegally in the underground. Entering the mind of a serial killer means not only seeing the monstrosity he performs, but also living his lust to kill and fulfillment. You haven’t experienced the latest New Hollywood recording? You’re nobody!

The streets live with braindances, everyone just got crazy and wants to be a part of this new entertainment fad. Some people push it even too far and they cannot stop living other people’s lives. If you’re not linked to a braindance right now, you are probably discussing what happened to you during your last session. Of course, just like every great new cultural movement, BDs have people who criticize them.

Just watch these two guys arguing about this phenomena. This is the world of 2077. The gap between high and low is bigger than ever. Drugs, violence, braindance, psychos on the loose… Will you be able to function in this defunct society or end up a BD-junky with nothing left, set aside like garbage - still living someone’s else life – not aware of what’s going on around you? Whether you like it or not - this is the age of braindance decadence; this is Cyberpunk 2077.

Sounds pretty cool didn't really no much about the game intill I found out CDPR were developing the game the same developers as the witchers 3 witch I really liked alot. I don't tend to get hardons for any developer however I must admit if its as good as the witcher 3 then dam it will be a good game. I'm not saying its has to be like the witcher 3 but in terms of quailty and writing, expressing ideas etc.

For those who don't mind spoilers, from what I've put together, basically you start as a poor as fuck character in Night City's slums when you get caught up in some shady as shit Braindance stuff and have the chance to become as a rich-as-fuck criminal or "bleah" do the right thing as the criminal conspiracy gets higher and higher and you end up a merc doing ugly things for ugly people. You can ally with the Cops, Yakuza, Megacorps, or them and betray them.

I appreciate they've stated they're not going to be doing anything about saving the world and the plot is about you making money and how much you're willing to compromise yourself/screw over other people to do it. Character customization will be a thing even if you'll have the "Shepard" sort of background so that people can address you by name.

There will also be Companion characters to accompany you like Fallout and Fallout 4 to the point you actually have something resembling a party. This will include the Psycho from the trailers.

You'll be able to customize your gender, appearance, sexuality, and background even if it all ends you up in the same place.

So what movies are a good warm up for this?
Strange Days? (which is pretty much what CT was talking about, though less technically advanced)
Johnny Mnemonic?
Blade Runner?
GITS?
The 13th floor?
Dredd?
Total Recall?
Akira?
Hardware?

What else do you think fits the vibe?

What else do you think fits the vibe?
Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie movies. I'm not even kidding. Gangs and criminals are also part of Cyberpunk. Mike's Cyberpunk also is far from being dull and all serious and doesn't end on visuals in these movies you remembered.

I'm totally hoping to be a corporate samurai but I'm sure you can't start out this way.

This, THANK GOD, is going to be an actual story not just, "Blank character shows up and does stuff."

I want my character to have a Nico Bellic run.

Start working for shitty people until I'm in classy suits and carrying a katana.

Who knows, there's still no new info, and I really want to know where did @CT Phipps read all this out to make such big assumptions.

Oh they've been dropping bits and pieces left and right.

Also, you can just e-mail them and you'll get answers.

Still doesn't describe the exact beginning of the game. And "rise from the slums" does not mean the exclusion of Corporate playthrough.

I would assume working for the corporates would be a big part of the game.

I'm hoping it's like Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines.

7 "Paths" for you to have which affects your story and yet all starting in the same place, which fits with what I've heard.

But a lot of customization for that.

Edit:

I love this video.

I also turn out to have been wrong.

You can choose your life path according to a guy on CD Projekt Red's forums who claims to have talked to a developer at a con. You just all start in the same place. It's also contradictory to what I'd heard that the game will about your "rise through the ranks of the city in power and influence."

So, take it with a grain of salt.

Okay, I'm just stupid excited for this game.

:squee:
I'm stupid excited aswell, I have always overhyped myself with CDPR titles, and they have always overdelivered my expectations... with both Witcher 2 and 3, I'll break my rules in a heartbeat and pre order this as soon as it's possible to do so.

Still though CP2077 is very unlike Witcher in the sense CP2077 (As i have understood it) Will be heavily influenced by the PnP games, with classes and custom designs etc.

I'd be happy with just a gameplay trailer to keep me on edge, i need another Cyberpunk fix x)

Does anyone know if psionic is exist in cyberpunk universe? i admit i have just watch the new dredd, i think it would be cool alternative to a character who dont want to loses their humanity and want to keeping their empathy high.
