Dead Island

Project Zomboid is excellent. I bought it. I'll buy it again when the full game is completed, and maybe a few more copies for friends, just to show support for games like this being made.
I'm afraid to continue my current game, since I have a lot of good stuff, and a plan to set up somewhere, but I dont want to fail executing that plan. Hahah.
It would be awesome if this type of game becomes mainstream. Anyone care to make a new thread about it? I don't think there is one. One great aspect is sharing how you died, how far you got and what tactics you used ect.

Tragic, I was really hoping for a TRUE survival horror game. Too many zombie games today are about co-op and body counts.

I'm still waiting for that true zombie game where the focus isn't on killing. Where every encounter with a zombie has to be carefully gauged, forcing the player to ask himself "Is it worth wasting my precious resources on this creature?" I want an open environment that can lead to multiple paths of escape, but you have to be careful because every play through, the creature spawning is different aka Left 4 Dead. I want it where many of the in game world's items can be used to block off access to areas, board up doors or used as makeshift melee weapons. A game that has the player treat his wounds and even a small bite from a zombie be fatal if left untended. People today think a zombie apocalypse is something that would be fun and hilariously action-packed. I want a game that shows them just how tragic and horrible such an event is.
You just described Fort Zombie. You've got to scavenge for food, supplies, and weapons, as well as find other survivors all the while trying to secure your base of operations by building barricades, and Zombie traps. The focus isn't killing, the focus is surviving.

The game was overlooked by a lot of folks due to how buggy it was when it first released, however a few patches later, and it's really an enjoyable game. There are still a few bugs, but nothing game breaking like there used to be. Another patch is coming out in October that's going to add more features, and fixes a few more little things.

Not a bad deal for $10 bucks. I picked it up after watching Revocane's Fort Zombie channel. Check it out if you want to preview the game before buying it.
