Dead Money out, screenshots on Marketplace

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
First of all, according to a poster on the Bethsoft boards, Dead Money is out, at least for some regions like North America, for the price of 800 MS points.

In case you still can't download, whether because it's not out there, you're not an Xbox360 player or you simply think DLC is a scam, the Xbox360 has some new screenshots:

Most likely yes, but nobody knows when. Officially, it's 360-exclusive, but it's almost certainly a timed exclusive.

Nice pictures! Is it gonna be available for PC?

But seriously, what Ausir said. We got lucky (?) last time since Fallout 3 used GFWL so the only one that sucked it up were the PS3 users, but since this time it uses Steam it's likely that we'll have to wait 6 months to see the DLC out for PC.

I guess at which point it has pretty much lost all relevance except to die hard Fallout fans*.

Next time I think marketing needs to think these things through.

* 'Die hard' as in perhaps taking notice, not necessarily buy it.

They'll still sell shitloads of copies of the GOTY edition.

Probably.
In the opinion of all of you guys here, is it sill relevant to pick up the first copy of a game when it is first released or is it simply better to wait for the eventual GOTY edition that includes all additional content?

If the only way PC users get to access the DLCs is by buying the GOTY edition rather than to release them separately online on for example Steam then I feel rather scammed for buying the regular game when it was released,

I think it depends on how much you WANT it. I knew F3 was going to suck but I still ponied up the dough for a 360 and the collector's edition because I just wanted more Fallout and I knew Bethesda was launching with the 360 as the primary system. For someone like me, nostalgia outranks patience.

Someone played it already? I am tensed to hear how much not-fallout it is.

Here is an interesting little tidbit; apparently the DLC could be downloaded for free for some time before the people of Xbox marketplace finally took notice and put an end to it.

You do realize it's exactly this kind of attitude that gives us a negative rep, right?

Because I wrote in a sentence what many wrote in many posts over the past few days?

Weeeeelll, hard to explain. Like already seen most Hardcore Fallout fans probably will not like it. But it isn't that bad non-fallouty. It isn't any worse than I felt about New Reno in that regard.

Apart from that: It's pure excellence. It has its (few) weakpoints but otherwise I like it even more than the Main Game.

(Oh yes, combat is actually challenging. Who knew thats possible in a Avellone game?)

What about the writing? Is it really as good as rumors say it would be? Also I am interested in how linear / non-linear it is.

It definitely doesn't have the fallout canon friendly look, but oh schmell. I'll end up buying it when it comes out on the PC, if for nothing but the Obsidian writing. The more money Obsidian generates, the better I feel about their future.

Strong endorsement. Just for reference, what would you rate the main game out of 100?

Puh... I'm not good with this. Let's say 85+.

I'm not so sure about the writing yet till I have reflected on it. What I can say though: Up to Avellones better writing.

Linearity though. Personally I would call it pretty linear but not the bad kind of linear that only sends you through corridors.
