Still Mildly Glowing

Did a quick search and I didn't see this up so I figured I'd make a topic about it (if it's even worth one...)
The idea of Hardcore is great and all, but it will hardly up the difficulty if its anything like Fallout 3's scaling and how it handed out XP/food/ammo and such like hot dickings. What I would really like to see on top of hardcore are actual sliders that can custom tailor the game to the players ideal experience. Hardcore not hardcore enough? Scale up how much you really need to repair/drink/eat/sleep. Leveling up way too much? It would be nice to down just how much XP you are rewarded (that might be a bit too much to ask for however.)
I hated how increasing the difficulty just made things tougher. How about scaling up the damage that creatures do to the player, but keep the damage the player does to the creatures normal or increase it for a more "realistic" (loosely said) experience?
