Do you believe in ghosts?

Science hasn't proven that they exist, but it hasn't disproven it either.

That is a stupid statement. If anyone cannot see why, then there is no hope for them.

People ought to study thermodynamics more, there are quite a few interesting phenomena there. There's nothing stopping a rock from transforming some of its internal energy (i.e. cooling) into kinetic energy and rising up from the ground, as it obeys "science's laws" perfectly, but it's just very improbable.

I like science, but physics is not my fort'e. Thoughts?

I'm not sure, but I think that would violate the laws of entropy, in that for a nonreversible process, the entropy of a system can only remain the same or go up, never go down.

Also, thermodynamically speaking, heat is only transformed into energy in a machine (anything that does work). Otherwise heat is only transferred around a system until it reaches thermal equilibrium (everything's at the same temperature).

SO again, much of what you guys are saying comes down to notions of faith - your belief in a religion (which is another form of 'supernatural') or your faith in science.

But is it possible that we don't necessary see what is there but we see what we want to believe?

In our ability to understand our world we have basic ontological biases, and things that we perceive that obstruct or interfere with that notion of 'reality' can be ignored, reinterpretted or misunderstood.

In contrast, other societies adn cultures that are more receptive to these notions can see ghosts because they are receptive to them, while we cannot.

Nah, Welsh, I am superstitious... I believe in ghosts. Not that I have seen any and if I did, I doubt anyone present would believe me.

I believe they exist. Just got a feeling.

I don't exactly believe in ghosts and thems, but I do believe there's something beyond our comprehension out there.. Much like teh dark blatter and the like (that's right homos, you don't know and you know it)

I haven't had any ghosts visiting me, and I doubt they ever will. Guess I'm not crazy enough for them to bother..
