First of all: Sweden is NOT allied with the USA. We're like Switzerland, neutral. It was Finland who stould against the USSr. The Iraqi rebels like you said only held the country as long as they thought that the US would come and help them. Good things Sweden have done. Hmm, ever heard of Anders Celsius, Elsa Beskow (who I am related to by the way) Alfred Nobel or John Ericsson? Ericsson was the SWEDE who buildt the "Monitor" that helped the Northern states defeat the souths "Merrimack" and thereby allmost winning the naval war. Olof Palme? A great swedish politian who was killed because of that. (Yes Lincoln, Kennedy and a lot of american presidents has also been killed) Björn Borg. Just so you know, I'm count culture as Good things as well. ABBA, Roxette. Joey Tempest. Do you want me to continue? Name a few good things that the US have done, by AMERICANS. A lot a inventions and stuff come from america but almost none of the inventors were americans(and I know of Thomas Edison). Not even the inventor of the A-bomb(Al Einstein) on which all present american power is based on was american.

More Swedish inventions

And the ball bearing, the gas driven refrigerator, the adjustible wrench, the propeller etc. etc. In short there are alot of good things Sweden has done.

RE: More Swedish inventions

the dynamite! don't forget the dynamite!

oh I love these cute little fireworks...

Actually most American power does not come from nuclear powerplants, I'd like to to be so however.

You credit the place where the scientist/inventor did most of his work on an invention. America, as you know, is often considered the "melting pot" for the fact that it composes nearly every nationality on the planet (much more so now than before). Eienstein may have been German, but most of his studies took place in America, much like Nikola Tesla originally coming from Romania (was that where? I forget).

As for some American inventions: The gas powered car, the airplane, wireless electrical transmission (Telsa), electro-magnetic motors, the submarine, television (though some may claim that isn't a good thing), the zipper, vulcanized rubber, the telephone, the landing on the moon (not an invention, but an accomplishment), the minicomputer, the personal computer, the internet, vast medical inventions (no I don't want to list them all), genetic engineering, the space shuttle, the artificial heart (okay I'll list one).

Well, for you to know, some researches have been made here in Russia which show clearly that all those pics and videos of Armstrong jumping around on the Moon are actually fake and Americans weren't the first to land on the moon. Just thought I'd say that.

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Dec-04-00 AT 07:11PM (GMT)[p]The small internal combustion engine is a German invention. This invention allowed the Wright brothers to perform the first powered heavier-than-air flight, however the Wright brothers airplane could not take off under its own power but needed a catapult. Bleriot and other europeans are the inventors of the airplane as we know it today this is not to diminish the Wright brothers invention of the wing-warping technique which gave the planes such great manouverability. And the submarine was invented by a dutch named Cornelius Drebbel, in the service of the english king Jakob 1 in 1624.

The zipper is swedish. The sub was first constructed by Leonardo da Vinci as the airplane, bicycle, parachute and helicopter. The inventor of the TV was a scot(play the ((swedish) game "Backpacker" and you'll see)). I ment POLITICAL power. The landing on the moon, thanx to nazis from germany. Bell was an englishman I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.
By the Way, how do I join PAS? And how do I put pictures in my signature?

Some more

The first pacemaker that could be operated into your body, the first effective milk separator(by Gustaf de Laval).

No

The zipper is actually an american invention, made for shoes to replace laces.

Duh! They were planned by him, not constructed.

WHAT?!!

Well, since the Bell corp. is in usa, I assume he was american.

ABBA? ewwwwwwwww

But Kilroy, dont you see that is the legacy of America. It is the melting pot of the world where people from other countries can come and live despite the fact they are different in relative peace. So many people come to america for the freedom we have. While many european countries also have this same freedom they are closed to immigrants, and to people of different ancestry. We take the poor the tired the hungry masses, and we help them. Take Andy Grove of Intel. He came to america from hungary with only five cents in his pcket and look what he has become. Now he may be the exception to the rule but still that one success is worth every failure.

You may not like america, you may not agree with america, but you have to aknowledge what america has done to be #1 in world.

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Dec-04-00 AT 11:23PM (GMT)[p]Dear Dr. he means that many of the smae scientists that worked on the V1 and V2 rocket programs later joined america and worked on the space program. Now the question is, is it evil to work on something for someone evil even if you have no choice but death?

And Bell is none other than ALexander Graham Bell an AMERICAN!!!

Xotor, APTYP read!

I move this question to this thread so it will be easier to find. What would you do with a sniper rifle or an assault rifle? They are weapons built for military purposes, useful for only the army, criminals and the law enforcement.

Yeah, and the Holocaust never happened either, right? And it was just post-war propaganda to paint Hitler as some kind of enemy of humanity, not just an enemy of the victors of the war too, right?

I don't think so... :)

>The zipper is swedish.

No, you must be thinking of Gideon Sundback who, while not inventing the zipper, improved it to the standard used today, much like the Japanese improved our TV.

You don't get credit for thinking inventions, you get credit for CREATING inventions. Inventions are technology, e.g. touchable, usable objects, not simply ideas.

I don't think so. Yeah, their V2 rocket set the stage for rocket technology, but if you're going that far I could say that the Chinese and their fireworks rockets set the stage for putting a man on the moon.

>Bell was

Bell developed the telephone on USA land. The nation which makes it owns it.
