Explosive Perks

DwayneGAnd

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
I'm talking about Heave Ho!, Hit the Deck, Splash Damage, and Demolition Expert. Explosives are more useful as a secondary combat skill. The most commonly used explosives for my planned builds are:

Dynamite for cowboys
Frag Grenades or Grenade Launchers for Grunts
Annabelle or Mercy depending on strength for everyone else. (Heave Ho! won't work with Annabelle)

Should I take all of the perks listed above to enhance the weapons I've listed above? Which weapons would be more suited to take all the perks above? For which weapons should I not bother enhancing with the perks above?

Secondary? Make primary and buy the 25mm grenade apw and all the mods and you can go to town.

Secondary use guns or energy weapons, because you will need something with a power penetration to kill deathclaws.

Perks are: demolition expert x3, heavy ho! and splash damage. If you're feeling rich, you can get Mad Bomber, because the MFC Cluster IS FUCKING AWESOME. Do not bother with Hit the Deck and only pick Pack Rat if you play in hardcore mode.

Should I take all of the perks listed above to enhance the weapons I've listed above?

No. Grenades sux in 3/NV. I think Project Nevada fix it, but I never use this mod because I play with 360 controller. Grenade Launchers are cool I guess, but 25mm APW is better, and is not affected by grunt.

Which weapons would be more suited to take all the perks above?

p.s: don´t do like this guy in the video, always aim for the legs. Even a 1% in VATS is enough, trust me.

wouldn't a build that uses explosives as a primary combat skill be too dangerous and hazardous? I mean what if neutral npc's are caught in the blast. You could lose karma or even turn them hostile. And what about companions? Surely they would be torn to ribbons by this attack.

I wouldnt recommend using explosives as primary. Its inevitable that you will face enemies at very close ranges.

If you like explosives a lot, theres one weird thing that makes explosive splash damage very unpredictable. Some projectiles have "use world orientation" ticked in the GECK, and in my experience it can dramatically reduce damage done. Ive had NPCs set off fat mines with barely a scratch for example. Not sure if theres a mod that fixes that, but its pretty easy to mod it.
