Falling Skies

thx Welsh. And once again you prove that you are truly a nice person

I sure will keep an eye on that. Though is it just me or is there recently a very high focus on "alien attacks" recently ? Or at least some kind of "strange" monster.

I mean Super 8, Los Angeles monster battle, and I think there are another 1 or 2 aliens-attack-earth-movies in the make or so.

Skyline, Cowboys & Aliens...

Remember late 90s and early 2000s after Saving Private Ryan, they went crazy for WWII stuff, from movies to video games.Enemy at the Gates, Pearl Harbor, U-571, Band of Brothers, Medal of Honor...
This must be alien attack phase. It seems like Spielberg always starts these trends(War of the Worlds 2005). I guess Civil War themes are next (Lincoln 2012).

Genres and themes gain and lose popularity like the phases of the moon.

As for Falling Skies, I heard about it, might check it out if I remember.

It seems pretty good.

@Crni Vuk: There's been even more focus on vampires and werewolves and shit as of late. They're making a vampire version of Rear Window (all though it's a lot more similar to Disturbia) called Fright Night, and, hell, MTV just started up their own series version of Teen Wolf that replaces all the comedy with drama and angst.

I won't watch until the channel announces a 3rd season (every show these days gets axed either after 2nd season or during it).

oh and thanks for ruining super 8 for me. I know it was not your intention, but you did. I thought it was about super heroes.

Heh, what? Did you see the trailer, or were you just going by the name? Because the trailer doesn't even come close to hinting that the movie is about super heroes; and strongly suggests that it's about some kind of monster.

Isn't the premise behind the Super 8 that's basically Cloverfield with a Super 8 in 1979 but with an alien monster from Area 51 instead of Godzilla 2.0 and a train crash instead of a meteor? (This is literally everything I gleamed from the trailer. If this spoils something for you, you are a goddamned idiot.)

What I gleaned is that someone remade E.T. as a monster thriller, except the alien is a cloud of ping-pong balls.

No. Cloverfield is The Blair Witch Project in NYC with a giant monster you get to see for about 3 seconds. Super 8 is an attempt to do an early 1980s Spielberg movie with contemporary CGI effects. It succeeds in some ways, but not in others. At least it's not 3D.

Just watched the "Premiere".
I'll hang on...
This show has Raiders!
[spoiler:0dda5df984]They got nuked though... [/spoiler:0dda5df984]

Really, because it sounds like they are remaking Fright Night.

Didn't know there was already a Fright Night. I just know it has Colin what'shisname in it and doesn't take place in Bruges so I won't see it.
