First time out of the vault
Has anyone else had problems where companions will stop responding? I was going through the raider camp south of vault city and Sulik stopped following me, I went over to tell him to follow me but rather then talking to him I could only take things from his inventory. When I transitioned screens he spawned in to the next screen with me but still wouldn't move and wouldn't talk to me. Neither of my other companions (Vic and Cassidy) have the problem.

I'm playing the GOG version 1.02.31 of the game with the restoration project version 2.3.3.

It might be the 'NPC turns into a container' engine bug. Did he critically fail and lose his turn in previous combat, and you somehow leave the map before he recovered?
You can try starting the combat manually (press A) and skipping the turn (press Space) in a non-hostile map. He should be normal after the game ends the combat automatically.
You can also try the new sfall build as it fixes the said engine bug. (overwrite the ddraw.dll and copy new settings from ddraw_adv.ini to your existing ddraw.ini with a text editor.)

Your suggestion fixed the problem thanks. I'm not really sure what caused him to lock up like that, guess I'll just have to remember this method in case it happens again. What do I have to do to use that Sfall mod, and is it okay to use while also using the Restoration Project?

Actually sfall is one of the critical components of RP. You should already have ddraw.dll (older v3.3) and ddraw.ini in your game folder.

If maually starting combat and ending your turn doesn't fix it, punching the container-bugged NPC has always worked in my current game. First time I ever encounter the bug, probably influenced by it being my first Jinxed run and so missing turns and such is a lot more common for companions.

Ya I'm doing a jinxed run as well so maybe that caused it, although I really don't think I was near any exits or anything on the map. Oh well things are working good now thanks for your help guys. :)
