Fallout 2 crashing in Dragon "Skill" test.

First time out of the vault
Alright guys, this is pretty much the reason I signed up. I need your help. I had started the "Dragon" test of skill in San Francisco. I had saved each battle with no problems. I come to the fourth battle(I think. It might be the third one.), and every time it goes to the opponents turn(The one I am fighting), it crashes. I've been able to recreate this several times. I'm not exactly sure what's causing it. I managed to knock him down and save, and it still crashes.

I'm using Killap's latest Unofficial Patch. Save File is available on request.
Edit: Ahh, seems you need my specs.
OS: Windows XP Service Pack 3
Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80GHz. 2.0GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 6800.

The game worked perfectly fine, I had been getting a few crashes ever since getting to San Fran, and now this has happened.

Mmf. I strongly advise against saving when you're in any sort of fighting ring (San Fran, NCR, New Reno), as the engine is then in a sort of "special" state that isn't always accounted for when the game is saved - I think. Save before asking the Dragon to test you, and then keep a stiff upper lip until you've beaten them all and exited the ring, at which point it should be safe to save again. Just my guess.

EDIT:
Also, San Fran is usually where the "Too Many Items Bug" eventually peeks out its fugly face, being late in the game and all. It's somehow related to having a lot of scripted items on the map and/or a lot of data files in your Pip-Boy. Suffice to say, if you start seeing your Skilldex and alarm clock buttons turning into black squares, then that could be the explanation to your crashes - in which case you should look for help in any of the TMIB threads here. I think someone on the forum has coded up a fix for it.

@soliunasm,
I agree with Magnus, don't save your game during any of the ring fights.

@Magnus,
The skilldex button bug was fixed over a year ago so no chance of seeing that. It was never a part of the "too many items" bug, just mistaken for it since the holodisks played a role in both.

@Kanhef,
I don't think the fix is incorporated into the save editor, but it can be downloaded separately from that same page you linked to.

I haven't had a single bug with any of the fights till this one.
I also can't fix my inventory, because it was stripped by Dragon, and I can't access my car inventory with the trainers. I've searched Google for some sort of Car Inventory editor, but alas, nothing.

Here's the save file if someone could help:

I replaced my SFChina file to see if that would fix it, didn't work.(The uploaded save doesn't have the change)

Well, you could probably save the game in a boxing fight and have nothing bad happen, or you could possibly screw up the save game. Sounds like you've been lucky up until now. In my experience there are three situations where saving can possibly mess up the game:

1. If there are armed explosives in your inventory or on the map

2. If someone is knocked unconscious (they might never wake up)

3. If you're in a fighting ring

Judging by your first post, I'd say you've got a save where someone is knocked unconscious in a fighting ring. Now, that's bayd, m'kay? Does reloading an older save and then going through the fight without saving help the problem?

The last save I have before the fighting ring is before I even got to San Fran, I was doing the second King Arthur encounter after just finishing up things in New Reno.

Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention, I have used Cheat Engine to see if this would help me out with anything. Gave myself infinite AP and killed the guy I was fighting. Ended my turn, and it crashed again. It's leading me to believe that it might be the items bug, and if it is, I have no way of fixing it unless you can access containers that you don't have access to.

Edit 2: Ok, I decided to use my old save file(It was only a couple quests from San Fran, otherwise it was the same as my first save file). It does crash at the third battle, second turn. Every single time.

Edit 3: Okay, I passed it. You can't save during fight 3-5, otherwise it crashes during their attacks. You can save during the final fight with the master after Rube. But now I have a different problem. I can't fight Lo Pan, because of a girl standing in the door. She doesn't move, and I don't know if it's a child or not.

Edit 4: Managed to do it. Not saving did the trick.
