Fallout 2 released for Mac on GOG

There is no really need for a linux version, Fallout 2 does run well under linux, though I'm not sure about Fallout.

That would really depend on the distro you're using and how you're emulating a windows environment

Is it the old Mac version that doesn't work on Lion? It seems so.

The old Mac version stopped working on Lion (10.7). It requires the Rosetta package to emulate the old PPC processors that Apple used to use, and that was last available in Snow Leopard. (10.6)

So, did GoG update the Mac version to work, or did they just throw a WINE or Cider wrapper around the PC version?

when you buy the previous fallouts on steam or gog, who gets the money? interplay or bethesda?

been thinking of getting a copy on steam just to have it, but i hate the thought of giving anymore money to bethsoft :?

AFAIK, you're still giving money to Interplay. Not sure why that's any better given that the money is still not going to the people who made the originals, but you seem pretty adamant in not giving money to Bethsoft.

I wasn't happy with the fallout 1 for mac it was the jsut the dos version with dosbox so as you could imagine the visuals suffered quite a bit.

I'm guessing the are using a wine wrapper (Wineskin) to make the windows version work under osx. Wine for mac is a bit different, instead of an all encompassing wine you have wrappers for each game.

Good to know. I'm thinking of getting mac versions of 1 and 2 for a friend of mine, but I want him to be able to use the fan patches (like RP) that have been made over the years. Sounds like the GoG releases might not be the best answer.

If he/she is running Snow leopard or older they should be able to play original Fallout mac version(power pc).

So, did anyone find out what version the GOG release is?
System requirements on their site read 10.7.5 or newer... is this wrapped?
