One should really convert sfall function reference to markdown with lots of anchors, that'd take care of many questions. Volunteers?
 
It checks the strings in scrname.msg. I posted an example script before:

If you change {483}{}{Sulik} to {483}{}{Bonenose} in scrname.msg, the script won't level Sulik up.

if in scrname.msg there will be a text encoding different from ANSI, for example russian cyrillic DOS, or some other european encoding, will it work correctly?)

Probably not, because the functions use _stricmp to check if NPC is the right one.
... scripts have to be localized and re-compiled if any localized game changes NPC names in scrname.msg.
You can test my script with Russian version and see if NPCs got leveled up.
I'd guess why the functions work in this way is because sfall was never meant to target non-English version in the first place.

Application error, fallout2HR.exe

Windows XP SP3, Fallout 2 GoG version, RP 2.3.3 + sfall 3.8.4

I was playing full screen and suddenly during random encounter with highwaymen, I hit enemy once with my jab, which caused black screen. Was able to go desktop, but didn't manage get error report (if it's possible to get one?)

I can share my save, because it happened just after I load that save and went to this random encounter.

That crash happened yesterday, it worked nice for 4-5 hours. But then again same error "application error, fallout2HR.exe"

Windows XP SP3, Fallout 2 GoG version, RP 2.3.3 + sfall 3.8.4

This time loaded save from vault 15 G level, when went to level 1 and fight with vault 15 guards, suddenly when tried to hit enemy with my hammer punch, black screen came, again! Like yesterday.

Edit: I crippled enemy legs/hands, but it was strange for first turn of enemy still used 2 handed weapon, shotgun most likely (burst, rifle sprite), but after that enemy had still shotgun on it's hands but used unarmed this time.

I went to fallout2HR.exe process, but it didn't show possible error message and tried press CTRL + C, but it seem it didn't manage get it.

Welcome to Vanilla Melee Bugs vs the GoG Version :\
It seems only to happen when you use your fist attack, NOT kicks, also any kind of weapon, even a knuckleduster helps prevent that crash. (Except for enemies which have a floating message script on attack, like the ants in Broken Hills, for that it only helps to hover over the enemy, wait for the script to trigger and THEN attack). Maaaaay~beeeeeee its the same issue all around the game, but I'll be damned if one gets that fixed on a modern machine without rewriting the whole executable... damn hacky/lazy Interplay/Black Isle :^
(Really can't remember having any of that issues in the original game back in the ol' 9x days)

I think this may be error I've seen, interesting. So this crash may be impossible to fix anyhow? I need forget Haymaker and use Power Fist :P

I have just played through an unarmed char with a setup similar to your PC, and landed many, many Haymakers with no problems. But, that was with an older version of sfall. Newer sfalls contain edits by a crazy genius Russian hacker named Crafty, these are not all that well documented, and I think some of them have to do with unarmed attacks.

Could you put up your ddraw.ini here so I could have a look at it?

If someone thinks Crafty's bug fixes have anything to do with issues they got, they can try 3.6.

I was trying to save Vic from Metzger and tried to wipe all enemies with APA / Plated Boxing Gloves fun.

This time it was enemy turn when this happened, one of the Metzger guards started to move inside house and run towards my character and screen went black, but like you see this time I managed to get error report! CTRL+C worked this time.

My save was front of Slaver guild, battle went around 5 minutes, I think before black screen came?

Not sure if the bug can be reproduced reliably on your side.

It happens atleast once per day, not that common but still annoing stop to grind, fortunately I save maybe too often so I don't lose anything.

Played on fullscreen with 1280x1024 resolution, Windows XP SP3 PC is very old, weak Pentium 4 single core (2GHz+, don't remember exactly) + RAM less than 1Gb and very slow HDD and old weak GPU with latest drivers from 2009, after 3-4 hours Fallout 2 gaming I can notice slowdowns with loading saves / entering towns or areas.

I think even RPi 3 can perform better :D

Hi, I just installed RP 2.3.3 today after a long time to play it again and encountered one problem which is really annoying.
The problem at hand is the incredibly slow speed of traveling across the map. I tried to lower the number in ddraw.ini or even turn off the F1 setting for it and it doesnt work. I still move incredibly slow that it feels like having 5fps at that moment.
Anyone encountered the same problem and have a fix for that? It might not be a really game breaking problem but I dont want to spent half a day travelling across the map :/

Edit: OK managed to find a way to merge RP with latest sfall but the problem still remains.

Also tried basic patched version of fallout 2 with latest sfall and editing stuff in ddraw.ini works (even tried without sfall to confirm the traveling speed and sfall setting succesfully limits it as it should).

So it seems that there is some problem between sfall and RP which creates this problem for me.
Anyone has a fix or can provide me with ddraw files which make the change in numbers work in the game?

What I mean "can be reproduced" is you keep getting the same bug in the same situation, like in your slot01 the game always crash when you punch a slaver or something.
It seems your crash is too random to be tracked, and currently it only happens so regularly on your system.

No crashes today, but game went very sluggish after started "Return Anna's locket" side quest, literally fps / frames dropped very low.

Edit: I had load save few times and using clock to go 00:00 and talk with ghost and start side quest, before game went sluggish + also completed this side quest http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Find_Woody_the_ghoul_for_Percy._Try_the_Den

Very strange thing happened when went to New Reno (first time with the car), I know it disappear after you left car alone and go to worldmap, but bug is that car is shown on worldmap even you don't really have it (stolen) :P

It's been few days without crashes, but today went mad and tried to wipe whole Navarro alone, wasn't much problem but game decided to crash and took my joy to beat bad guys :(

I went to Navarro base from my save, and G level (place where cook is, started to hit Enclave guys there), suddenly again... black screen during battle (used APA and MPF)

I wonder, have you ever thought of melding the Klamath/Arroyo expanded mod to your magnus opus? I remember playing it years ago, bit it was pretty good. Gave a very dark light to the possible outcomes within Arroyo as well as Klamath.

There is bug with Enclave soldiers (Oil Rig, very strange as I didn't notice this bug with Navarro Enclave soldiers), when I critical hit them to legs / eyes and get them knocked down / out, I noticed that even there was enemy zone available (red lines around enemy), it was not possible to hit enemy again until they get up (red lines where available, but there was just "X" shown, instead of hit zones become available)

Save is on Oil Rig, try get enemy knocked out / down and you see this same problem.

I load your save, go to the next floor, open the first door to the right, punch a soldier in APA in her leg to knock her down, and I can still attack her laying on the ground.
Have you tried moving one or two hexes closer to your "unreachable" enemy laying on the ground?
