fallout 2 survival kit for mac that works?

First time out of the vault
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I have tried downloading the survival kit for fallout 2 from at least 10 different sites including this one and no luck can anyone help?

I would greatly appreciate any assistance!!!

I've got the same problem, even with v1.4, though the GECK item editor does still work. They was written for OS 10.3, looks like 10.4 broke it. A solution is to get the Windows version and run it under VirtualPC (PPC) or Parallels/wine/etc. (Intel). That would also let you use mods that depend on sfall, such as the RP.

Adding To The Confusion

Adding To The Confusion

Used the Survival Kit a couple of times over the years.

Think 1.4 worked when 1.31 didn't on the second use. Perhaps that was with 10.4 OS.

Must have tried a third time with 10.5, can't recall if worked properly or was not using a G4 machine.

Googled this:
http://www.opaquedream.com/semiblog/2007/07/fallout-2-survival-kit/
but do not have any Mac's awake to test this mid night.

Don't know if it's a possible Intel hardware issue, or when the Mac OS stopped supporting Classic. 10.5?

When Googling, some version of the Kit said it was good with the 1st Mac port of FO that was in Classic.
Would that legacy code be a problem for 10.5 and 10.5 on Intel rigs?

With out tesing on different configurations ... At this point may have added more smoke then hope.

That the original release of Fallout was in Classic doesn't matter to a savegame editor. That it uses the Carbon library, rather than Cocoa, might be a problem; I don't know how well it's supported in 10.5 . Processor emulation certainly doesn't help.

G4 Test

G4 Test

Booted OS 10.4 from external drive on old PB G4.

FO2 Sur. Kit ver 1.31 had error first time looked like a classic pop up. "nilObjectException".

Later the longer Mac OS 10 error report included:
Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000003

ver. 1.4 appeared to be functional.
Got it from the above link, but the link doesn't appear to be functional ... this day.

Switched boot disk to 10.5 OS and got similar.

ver. 1.4 appears to be the one to seek. Some sites that wrongfully claimed to offer 1.4 seem trash sites, time traps. Ad cesspools.

Will try Intel Mac with 10.5 later this a.m.

[edit]

Same results for Intel Mac. 1.31 no. 1.4 yes, (used the 1.4 via Kanhef's link.)

Next trick will to wake up the G3 lurking in the basement with some earlier 10 OS.

Master Of The Obvious

Beige G3 with 10.2 OS (learned hardware trick to squeeze Panther in, software assists are available these days),
ver. 1.31 worked and so did ver. 1.4.

Kits not always functional the first time on G3. Perseverance furthers.
Still, altered long ago character build to present running favorite "Jinxed".
Ground out the rats with the sloppy knife handling and prat falls that always avail a 'Gifted' Speech Nerd.
90's hardware -- Forgot how heavy the old ball tracking mice could be, and the necessary inner wheel cleaning.

Opaque Dream site is still out there: version #7, just can't connect to the survival kit page: version # 6.
As the relative comments keyed in 2007 -2008 are fading into the web's neglected archived unconscious, we boldly pump up the Mac hive mind with our present tense typing. :salute:

Opaque Dream ver. 7 does comment on game sound tracks including the FO's sound tracks here: http://www.opaquedream.com/game_ost.html

For all those who arrive at the Glow with out the necessary item,
for all those playing 'Jinxed' that lose track of a one of a kind weapon - dropped or 'asploded - ,
for all those that wish to reconfigure your stats so you don't have to grind rats or endure the Temple Of Trials,
the FO2 Survival Kit ver. 1.4 awaits!

For FO2 Survival Kit ver. 1.4, use Kanhef's link above.

As of this time on October 21st, Brother None reports that the NMA version is now updated to 1.4. http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=542 :drunk: :aiee:
