Fallout 3 Alternative Soundtrack Project Seeks Composers

Public: very nice, I especially like the Dark City - captures the atmosphere of Fallout just right. Will put it in my fo3 music folder

Thanks man. Those tracks were made specially for Mutants Rising mod, so I tried to make them sound old-school. For Fallout 3 I will make something more suitable for today's standards.

Good stuff Mr Bumble. I'm thinking about digging up some old Fallout-inspired music I did a few years ago and submitting it.

decided to take part in this as well

I'm new to these forums even though I'm a long time fallout fan. I didn't especially like the FO3 score either, or to be more precise it wasn't exactly a homage to the mark morgan scores. Sometimes fresh and new is a good thing but these games have a certain feel to them and the path Inon Zur took didn't work fallout-wise.

Now I'm not saying I did any better, but with the old games in mind, I made something like this.

Here's the same thing with some FO3 gameplay to it.

I would love to hear something from "Kammarheit". an example of their work :

I also liked Mr Bumble's music.

Tbh, it would be a bit more inspiring to work on a soundtrack for this if the game wouldn't suck so majorly already. I'll probably contribute to this project anyways, just for the heck of it.

Fantastic, fits the game so much better than the default music.

Excellant yasahi :D its the little things like new music that makes me glad im buying F3 for the computer rather than a console... well soon as finish fallout 1/2 anyway.

Damn Yasahi, did you just make those? That was fast. Both are excellent, really reminiscent of the old Fallout soundtrack but with more going on, which is definitely good since while I liked the original soundtrack it was a little bare at points.

Although Mark Morgan wasn't a part of Fallout Tactics music, (Inon Zur was ) I found his to be quite good. Much better than fallout 3's.

Totally agree. I liked Fallout Tactics, no matter what anyone says. It is a solid game with nice features. My only problem is that it wasn't an RPG. But fun nonetheless.

Many thanks

Thank you for the kind words, very glad the tracks please you. The first track was actually started a year or so ago but never finished. I then read about the FO3 alternative soundtrack project and remembered that particular piece I had made. So I build a more falloutish atmosphere around it and kinda liked the result.

The second track was actually done rather quick, I was very motivated so many hours straight I finished it in a couple of days. I'm so glad of the positive feedback! I want to compose more but another project of school is keeping me busy for a few days. After that though, I'll give FO3 music another shot at :)

*EDIT* - Finished the latest one, "the warmed side of FO3"

Thank you! I did get a bit carried away with this but I'll be having a small break and planning what to do next. I like the cavern city where only the children live. That place begs for something wonderfully ambient and hopeful, but yet melancholic. Also the whole DC area with the monuments could do with a theme of its own. Something a bit more epic. Not in a symphonic way tho.

The guys at the forum for the actual Fallout 3 Alternative Soundtrack haven't replied yet so it could be I'll just release these myself, perhaps not as a mod but just an EP with music inspired by FO3 or something. We'll see :)

Hey guys.

Figured I should post in here aswell; sorry for everyone I haven't been able to reply yet, I'll try to do that on the weekend. I've been terribly busy by that thing called real life, but it'll ease up on the 19th-20th of this month and I'll be back in action full-time after that.

Yasahi; your tracks are good - I'll drop you further comments once I get to analyze them with more time. We've not decided what gets in and what not yet since we have so much of usable stuff.

We definitely have all the dungeon tracks wrapped up, and most of the base tracks. What we do need is battle tracks, but we'll take care of those in-house - the battletracks are tricky in the sense that they'll need to hit the spot exactly or they won't work, so I'd rather not outsource them. However, if you have a track or two that could fit into the battles, feel free to submit it - but keep in mind that I'll be very strict with the technical requirements there.

That's all. Cheers.

Yup, Kammarheit is one of a kind!
I also think that the track "All Quiet In The Land Of The Frozen Scenes" would fit perfectly somewhere in the game!

you can listen to the track here:

A short status update: We're not dead, even though the forums are. The soundtrack will be out very shortly - we've got 95% of the songs finished. Pretty much everything from the OST will be replaced, even a one radio channel.

Cheerio.
