Fallout 3 and a couple of mirrors

Strange title for a news eh ? Well I thought that we needed to clarify what we, here at NMA, are saying by speaking out to Bethesda.

We at NMA (and alot of our followers) have the distinct impression that Bethesda aim to change our beloved Fallout to something it wasn't meant to be, which is something we grunt at. One thing to remember in all this is that alot of companies have earlier tried to change a known franchise and they have all failed, one example is the X-Com series.

A future Fallout 3 should have the following:
  • Isometric view (3D ala Silent Storm or 2D ala Fallout/Metalheart)
  • Turn Based Combat
  • SPECIAL
  • The same setting
  • The same openness of the earlier games
  • A story that fits the setting/history
  • Dialogue Trees
Sure you might want to debate all this but believe me when I say that we have debated this over and over again here at NMA, check our forums for all those threads.

Other things to remember is that this is the time to change Bethesda's plans/ideas, later on it will be too late to do that.

I wish to stress that we, here at NMA, have no objections to Bethesda as a developer and do not think they suck (as many of you believe). But we do however reserve the right to be critical and judge them by their own words/actions.

Secondly a happy news, since the official site of Interplay is still down we decided to mirror the Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 official sites here on NMA. We have not changed a bit on these pages (except links) and remember that Interplay owns these pages, we're just mirroring them until IPLY can put them up themselves.

Now thats a good gesture, maybe a request to have a debate with them about the things might be a good idea, but its to early for that I suppose,

a bit off-topic : 'How do you contact one of the dev's ?'

Great news post. I really hope one of the people at Bethesda will see this.

It's also nice to be able to see the official"Fallout and Fallout 2 sites again :).

HAH! The only thing Interplay will be putting up any time soon is their notice of bankruptcy.

re: The call to Bethesda. Start doing a forum trawl to pull out some of the relevant posts on combat, isometric view etc.. Start backing up the argument with the best we've got to offer. Hopefully someone will pay attention.

... and remember kiddies, this isn't just Fallout 3 we're talking about it's:

We've licensed the rights to Fallout 3 as well as sequels -- Fallout 4, Fallout 5.

The link to the secret talking heads section leads to nowhere. I don't remeber where was the link to the mapper section, but I have a feeling it's also not mirrored. Fix?

I hate you APTYP

Forgot that thing existed, thanks DU!

Are there any chance of linking to the NMA fallout bible reservoir from the mirrored BIS/IPLY sites (as the links there lead nowhere)? I would believe that more people would check out those sites rather than the "Download"-sites at NMA (at least now with all of the newcomers registering at the site). The same could be done with other links to editors and such.

I know that this might take some time to do, so this is not a demand at all, just a friendly advice in order to introduce more people to Fallout and what it's really all about.

If (for some strange reason) needed, I will gladly be of assistance as well.

Anyway, a good news post which really sums up whatever we've been discussing for the last couple of days :) I'm also glad to see that you explain to the Bethsoft fans that we're not trying to make any trouble, but that we're merely trying to offer our advice to make FO3 as good as possible, and that we're somewhat frustrated not getting any response from Bethesda.

Yes I forgot some pages, but I'm going to fix that later...

Can I ask where we have insulted them? Because quite frankly we haven't, Rosh's post was harsh and to the point. We're sick of the usual PR word dance that developers are giving us, give it to us straight or not at all..

Is there a chance that the files that used to be hosted at interplay will be working as well? I'm not sure how hard it will be to find them all, but perhaps some can be found.

Dark One theone calling Fallout fans SuperNerds and cheering the people that insult us is Hayt from Bethesda, you seem to forget that. Wait you don`t but it doesn`t interest you . Ok then.

That was what we said some months ago. Look at how things are now.

I guess you never bothered to look at our files section, then you would have seen that we have all the Fallout files that IPLY had..

I just went over them, and i can't seem to find all of them. The ones i cand find are the 2 dialogue samples from Fallout 1, and Fallout 2: The Movie from the Fallout 2 files section. Perhaps not the most important files though :P.

Perhaps it would be possible to relink the files listed on those pages to the ones in the NMA download section. That might make them easier to find for people.
