Fallout 3 concept art

the concept art always blows my mind.

How can a team like Bethesda have such talented artists.

I gotta say, for all it's faults, barring the retardo-towns, I like the aesthetics of the Capital Wasteland more than the Mojave... It really looked dismal and desolate.

every Fallout fan old or new can agree that the artistical side of Fallout 3 was superb and definetly if eventually NOT Fallout 1/2 like (design whise, no clue) it was definetly on the same level in quality, equal to say it that way. As said artisticaly speaking. What the problem is is the overuse of 50s (not post-future-50s!) themese. Like clothes, music, etc. It feels in some places like the 50s was nuked not the 50s future. But its just nitpicking from me.

When itcomes to concept art Bethesda really has a good hand when it comes to choose either the correct artists or the people working directly for them are very skilled, no clue. Either way. Their art usualy hits the nail on the head. I think only their marketing branch is showing even greater skill.

But yeah, as someone said. If they just would pay so much attention to the quality and content of their games like to the marketing and art, Bethesda could easily become the god of RPGs (or games in general) :P

:P

I don't agree. The original fallout's made a much bigger aesthetical impression on me. The graphical component in 1 and two established a much better immersion of what fallout is all about: Nuclear holocaust, society struggling to re-establish itself, the role of heroic example via good hard-core role playing.

Fallout 1 and two had unique looking localities, simple but effective, because scenery, NPC actors (exp. Junkie-old man having a unique animation), and story were perfectly matched.

Nowhere in F3 (a bit more in F:NV )are the immerse qualities of the concept art above to be found.
Rivet city looked promising in the concept art, but the actual rivet city: meh, I was more impressed by the simplicity of the glow: a hole in the ground. The orchestration however, the long way to reach it, and the imminent danger of radiation, together with this whole in thee ground made a big impression on me.

Looks cool, can't wait for the game to be released. It's going to be great.
