Yeah well its canon now. Your right about the Black Isle thing, but what I am saying is that Black Isle said that Tictacs isn't canon, but Fallout 3 did.
There are no unjustified opinions. There are only opinions. If you have an opinion, then you have already (even unconsciously) justified it to yourself. People trying to change your opinions only end up causing trouble .... and they just need to accept that their opinion differs from yours.Mr. Teatime said:In my (unjustified) opinion, I think Bethsoft did a pretty good job. I get Fallout vibes from the game. I'm enjoying it and am surprised it retains so many 'niche' elements such as the skill checks and so on, considering it's also a blockbuster.

In my opinion, I think your right.
Previous Fallouts aside, I still fail to see how Fallout 3 even matches up to its contemporaries. Again, judging by today's standards, most aspects of the game's engine (lighting, shadows, animations, textures, models, collision detection and so forth) are simply horrendous. Most of the bastardized FPS/RPG gameplay elements are seriously lacking. The writing is abhorrent. The humor ("Welcome to Megaton. The bomb is perfectly safe. We promise") is, well, humorless. What else do we have here... Insipid environment(/character/quest/dungeon) design. Incoherent and talentless art direction. Weak sound effects. B-class voice acting. Utterly dysfunctional AI. Unprofessionally implemented interface... It all comes down to minus after minus after minus, with no particular pluses coming to mind. That is, unless you count mindless, over-the-top violence as a distinguishing plus. I don't.Fallout 3 doesn't match up with his predecessors, whatever his inherent quality may be..

As Henry Mencken once said, "nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public."
I have to say, it made MY stomach turn. But HELL ... if people like it, then so be it. More power to them. Who are we to judge?lewis said:PEOPLE REALLY eat that? jeez what a mess
We are sane, non shit-eaters. It applies to both products, really.Lichbane said:if people like it, then so be it. More power to them. Who are we to judge?
I think you missed my point. Either that or I missed your sarcasm.beverageleverage said:We are sane, non shit-eaters. It applies to both products, really.Lichbane said:if people like it, then so be it. More power to them. Who are we to judge?![]()
I got your point, mine is that they ought to be ridiculed for eating shit on a stick.Lichbane said:I think you missed my point. Either that or I missed your sarcasm.

Frankly, I consider Oblivion to be a better game than Fallout 3. For one, it was larger, better looking, and seemingly more advanced. The world had weather effects, the magical setting allowed at least some sort of suspension of disbelief, and even though it did take a couple of fireball/arrow shots in the head to finish somebody, I do not believe it looked even remotely as ridiculous as this:
http://www.ripten.com/2008/11/01/this-is-how-many-headshots-it-takes-to-kill-somebody-in-fallout-3/
That being said, at this point I'm just comparing one piece of excrement with another...
