Fallout and Bethesda in the Washington Post

The Washington Post did an article on Bethesda Softworks, its history and its owners, which mentions Fallout as being in production. It has a lot of interesting stuff and details and is generally a good read. A bit:
Altman said that Bethesda employs just over 100 people and that the staff will probably double in the next six months as the company gears up to make more cutting-edge titles. The company's kitchen is out of commission to make way for the growth; in the works are a sound studio and a "motion-capture" studio, where an actor's movements are recorded before they are translated digitally into the game world.

[...]

In development is a sequel to a popular role-playing game called "Fallout," to which Bethesda recently acquired the rights. The company also has action games in the works for Disney's next "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie.
Link: article on Washington Post

Thanks Briosafreak, who spotted it on the RPGCodex

Anybody have any news on this?

Sounds like a good idea if done properly, but Disney can be pricks sometimes.

If it will be anything like Bethesda's previous Pirates of the Carribean game, then I will pass, thank you.

Dove, I am somewhat disappointed in you. ;)

Bar Stewards! Placing Fallout within the same context as Disney.

(Slightly drunken post - Treat contents with some caution)

I like pirates okay?

The reason I ask is that any Fallout news will be posted for sure, many times I imagine, and very in depth analysis if history proves correct.

A disney game about "Pirates of the Carribean 2" wouldn't be talked about much, however. An action game no less. So that's why I asked.

all i can say is it's about damn time. morrowind suffered from some of the ugliest animations this side of homebrew, and by the looks of it (the trailer) oblivion isnt faring much better. some of the fight scenes look so awkward.

lets just hope fallout 3 benefits from motion capture, and lets hope even more that it simply isnt a reskinned oblivion.

Mmm well the first pirates of the caribbean was SUPPOSED to be a sea dogs game which COULD have been good, so the next one COULD be real good too :). Hrmmm... I didn't even know a sequel was being made though. Ah well

"You're going to save the world in 20 hours," he said, "but this game has 200 hours in it."

Let's just hope Bethsoft isn't under the impression that 180 hours of unfocused "exploring" would also make a good Fallout.

I hope you realise "the game has 200 hours in it" means that you can/have to hop from one town to another for 200 hours like in Morrowind.

That's nothing compared to Daggerfall's dungeons that took anywhere between one and eight hours to explore. Or trips from one town to another that consumed *months* of in-game time. You could literally leave Daggerfall (pursuing some crazy quest on the opposing side of the Iliac Bay) in summer and return only to be greeted with spectacular sight of snowy winter landscape.

You people are getting confused here

Pirates of the Caribbean was not a Bethesda game, it was made by Akella, who we all know of Metalheart:RR. Bethesda only published it, they did not develop it. Akella seems to have a thing for pirate games, too

The Developer of the second Pirates of the Caribbean is Seven Studios. Again Bethesda is just publishing it.

To "blame" Bethesda for Pirates is a bit silly. Equally the quality of the first is not telling for the second, as they have different developers
