This is not quite a new thread as breathing life into an old one that got a less than steller start. Basically this role play retraces the steps of the Vault Dweller in his search for the waterchip and his battle with the mutants. Since we know the story, the game plan is to put a different spin on the story we have known.

Please read Chapter 1 if you are interested in joining.

New players are very welcomed to join.

This will be the OCC board while the main board will be just for ICC.

The story should be something of a variation of Fallout 1. Same places and major characters but different events and occurrences. So we should see Set, Killian, the Master, Rhombus. But perhaps we meet them under different circumstances.

Also chapter 1 was a bit funny. This could retain a bit of that, but doesn't have to.

It should be an opportunity to play different types of characters and write differently than you normally do. Kind of an chance to explore different characters and different styles.

For instance I have been in touch with Zoe. Perhaps instead of the normal helpful good natured idealistic humanist she normally writes, she could pick up a shady, mercenary, killer- type with a nasty sense of humor who is looking for a man who did her wrong for the purpose of revenge.

The character I have been favoring is a throwback to a Shaft-Undercover Brother- Eddie Murphey in 48 Hours- in the post-apocalypse type character.

The next person I may come up with is a calm, funny and easy going Nuka COla peddler. Sort of a mixture of Cassidy and Ian from Fallout and Fallout 2.

Humm… this interests me. The first chapter was fun to read, perhaps I could get into this one with a completely type of character?

I was thinking in some kind of tribal: A Sulik type or a Hakunin-like character…

What do you think?

Actually, I have asked Zoe to do Ian. Except in our story Ian is in hiding as Inna, the woman merc he has scorned, is now hunting for him in Shady Sands.

Remember that Ian has been healing from wounds when the Vault Dweller finds him. But what he's doing in Shady Sands is unclear.

But that's kind of how I'd like to see this story. We can say that Fallout was a construction of the vaultdweller's story. Ideally, our characters will see another side of Fallout that the game player doesn't and we will play characters that we might not otherwise get the chance to.

So Prudence, Katja, ok, but better yet, why not something of a character you have not played before. An female initiate to the Brotherhood of Steel off on some foolish quests? Remember the librarian with the endless supply of books? You could be her book hunter. Or a water pirate with a price on her head from the water merchants?

Your characters are usually rough, lesbian, killers. Why not something different?

This could be a chance to grow as writers by developing new types of characters, something you haven't been before.

Agreed. I'll play something milder... I could go for the water pirate... Or Nuka Cola Peddler/Water pirate.

How about it, Pru?

You can come in when you like.

Remember there is a lot going on in Fallout 1 that the Vault Dweller doesn't play into, or which is left kind of unexplored.

For example, why is Rombus so pissed off? What is wrong Tandi and Seth's relationship and why doesn't Seth ever leave the gate (or Katrina for that matter). What exactly are they growing in Shady Sands? Our story could provide an explanation of what happened.

This is a chance to be creative and play with a game we all enjoyed. It could also be a chance to play with different writing styles. So have fun with it.

Ok, a couple of things before we throw the game off.

Remember this is Fallout 1 and at this point in the game we, as players are pretty low level characters.

Getting a submachine gun or a rifle is a big deal.

Low level characters. Remember, shady sands is a town where maybe one or two people have rifles, most have just spears and knives.

That's the reason I have a Desert Eagle... and maybe a knife... Some supplies and junk. That's me. And what would I be without my Butane lighter.

Rama- Oh, well. I liked the idea of a Nuke Cola vender trying to sell his soda throughout the wasteland. I thought it was a clever idea and promised a life of adventure. It seems that Carib is more "a nicer, friendlier" Rama, no?

BK - Pretty silly so far. You shot the pants of Seth and what? He fell to the ground. Come on! You can write better than that. I also think you should reconsider your Ex- BIS story idea. Maybe you should think about the Nuke Cola seller going from town to town selling soda. Kind of interesting.

I have thought about this some more. BK, your writing isn't very good. There are others that are also not so good but rarely do they try to move the story so violently. I am going to suggest restarting with a more "average" character with a more interesting personality.

Carib though was edited a bit. I did add the Nuka Cola part, but he is also a rough neck of sorts. Ever seen From Dusk till Dawn? He'd be like Seth Gecko. Minus the evil brother...
