Well as promised Chris Avellone delivers yet another update to his Fallout Developers Profile, so without further ado here's a bit from it:
15. What’s your favorite Fallout memory?

I don’t know. Long walks on the beach maybe? The first kiss? What kind of dumbass question is this? I didn’t have a romantic relationship with the game, for fuck’s sake....
Link: Fallout Developers Profile - MCA Part II

Don't even try to bad mouth scandinavian chicks.
Maybe he just sucks at finding the good ones (no offence to your mom odin).

I find these interveiws pretty fun to read, the FO3 "info" was a good read, I wish we had a chance to play it.

Hah! Now trhat was an amusing read, I believe that's the biggest pessimist I know of...bitter old man...

i am on vacation... still I am stuck here reading these forums! could somebody just release the new fallout and make it good so I can rest in peace

MCA said:
I liked designing New Reno, and I think it was a fun location with lots of fun things to do despite all the bullshit that gets leveled against it to this day.

Bullshit, huh? Well, maybe because is SUCKED.

Not a bad interview, although he only takes it about as seriously as Sean K. Reynolds did. But hey, neither of them really worked on a released Fallout*

* yeah, I'm mean, so sue me

Yeah, but MCA can make jokes about things other than Ping-Pong.

He is also a little too random, but that may just be the mental illness.

Or maybe the break-up with Momma Odin hurt him more than he is making out.

Here’s the second part of this @$!$!$% interview for No Mutants Allowed. For amusement’s sake and in my continuing quest to irritate Odin, I have answered only certain questions and answered them out of order. Some questions I have even answered multiple times in different ways, because multiple personality disorder is always funny, much like sex with a clown is.

If MCA treats Odin this way, and he was one his most greatest fans, i wonder how he treats his enemies

And the personality disorder thing must be for real, the number of times he says he won`t talk about something and then he eventually does talk in detail, or gives two opposite side opinions in just a couple of paragraphs is indeed disturbing.

57. Anything you’d like to tell the public concerning Fallout or Obsidian Entertainment, or hell, even about future projects you’re working on?

This doesn`t add up. If MCA is convinced that what we want is Fallout stuff
I don’t have much respect for questions one through four, since they’re designed as filler before you get to the stuff that No Mutants Allowed would seriously care about.
then why should we ask about his new endeavors? A Star wars game? A console only action title that they are starting now? A comic book? So what gives, do we want to know more about MCA or not? Just decide what we want once and for all MCA, since you seem to know so much about it.

15. What’s your favorite Fallout memory?

I don’t know. Long walks on the beach maybe? The first kiss? What kind of dumbass question is this? I didn’t have a romantic relationship with the game, for fuck’s sake.

Ok this is weird. Odin didn`t ask MCA if he used to masturbate seeing the fade out screen in the sex scenes just to feel closer to the action, or if MCA would take the FO2 box for a candle light dinner at Luigi`s. And if it`s a dumbass question why did he replied to it in the following paragraphs? Tsk tsk...

I also have pleasant memories of Odin continually asking for confidential information on the game with the conditional ”Oh, I won’t tell anyone” tacked on. For anyone reading this, if you ever ask me for confidential information, you’re wasting your time, and furthermore, you’re making me angry. Don’t make me angry. I am angry and bitter enough as it is.

Yeah, having to deal with the Star wars fanatics screaming at your ideas on the game, and Lucas"Emperors minions"Arts censors and pushers of unfinished games makes one bitter, i understand.

Campbell, who everybody always seems to forget, much to my irritation – maybe you could get him to do an interview next, brainiacs

Ok let`s keep the record straight on this. The role of Campbell on the creation of the Fallout universe remained pretty much unknown for years in the Fallout community, and MCA didn`t exactly pointed us to him at the time. Then after the talks about the devs interviews and other clues gave by people at Troika and former BIS guys Odin tried to find him, i even looked into it myself, but to no avail, he´s just hard to find. So MCA ,if you`re reading this, instead of bitching get us his contact!

And the contact of the guy rumoured to have the Van Buren techdemo, with the art, and the Jefferson playable code too...

I don’t even understand this question. Is this ”what pop culture influences inspired you in Fallout” or ”what pop culture influences inspire you now?” I await Odin’s answer before I tackle this puzzling, yet intriguing, question. But I doubt anyone cares about the answer anyway. Cue drumroll.

I never noticed, and i`m sorry for that Odin, but the question is indeed a bit confusing. Still all the other devs replied, so...

But aside from the hookers and blow, I wasn’t part of the original Fallout team. I was asked, but couldn’t join at the time. One of the worst decisions of my life. Except dating Scandanavian girls. Don’t date them. Especially if they’re A-type personalities, who'll take any form of compromise in a relationship as weakness and go for the throat with a battle-axe. This is based solely on my experience with Odin's Mom, I swear.

*insert several jokes about MCA´s mom in here*

Polish in Fallout 2? Maybe more to do in Shady Sands? I will say I wish we’d cut some maps out of San Francisco or else cut the location (and Colin McComb would probably agree), and Vault 15 probably wasn’t necessary, either. We were already putting too much into the game anyway, and I think the extra design time ended up detracting from the game rather than helping.

Yep, definitely. The parts of MCA´s original ideas for Fallout3 that were cut during Van Buren had to be so because of the need to streamline the story and the areas because they had learned the lesson from FO2.

*snip memories*

Split personality indeed... And just get us T-Ray contact, don´t be such a puss.

and lots of other crazy shit. Ah, well.

Well Bethesda is always looking for ideas for the new Fallout game, but they are too shy to ask. Send them the stuff, i´m sure they will appreciate it, as long as you don`t talk about Steve Meister`s mom.

My hope for future Fallout games is they get made. I suspect they will now. I doubt the fanbase will ever think they’re being done right, no matter who does them, Cain included. We’re not the same people we were 5-10 years ago, and design methods change, and George Lucas alone is proof that age, position, and a sizeable change in salary and job security can change your ”voice” over the years. The world changes. Interest rates fluctuate.

To be honest, I wish Fallout would just die and people would make new post-holocaust RPGs that are even better than Fallout. But hey, whatever.

there were lots of post apoc movies in the 80`s because they were really cheap to produce. In games they usually get the cliché treatment from those b-movies days, and i`m not impressed with the results. Now what i really wanted were more retro-futuristic games, in different times and art templates. Won`t happen though.

Now for the fanbase, it´s really sad to see such an intelligent writer talking in cliches like that. The fanbase had different opinions about FO2, and people still play it. If you got some harsh reactions the fault was just yours, MCA, was just from the people at Interplay and BIS that decided to release an unfinished game full of bugs because you desperately needed the money. You didn´t streamlined the production, lost focus, delivered a bunch of unresolved quests and placeholder NPCs that had importance if the things they were supposed to do had not been taken from the game. And still you have fansites and a large community following the game, what do you want more? Dude i saw the KoTOR2 events, all you had to endure, so don`t come with that speech targeting the Fallout fans, instead do grow up a bit.

0. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

This is something you’d ask someone interviewing for a job, good one, Odin. Zzzzsnore.

It`s only a bad question if your answer was uninteresting. It wasn´t, so what`s the problem? You see WE CARE, WE REALLY DO. :lalala:

Deathrace 3000. Who would you bring with you in a future Fallout team and why? Please answer sarcastically, if at all possible.

I would bring all the children of the world, and tell them to design a word ravaged by war where Mommy and Daddy are not yet dead, but are instead rotting from the inside from invisible energies. Then I would make them watch The Day After, right up to the point where Jason Robards (did I spell that right?) is crawling around in the wreckage of the city, gasping for life as he’s dying of radiation poisoning. It’s so touching.

As for who I would bring? I don’t know… duh, a good producer, a good lead designer, a good lead programmer, a good lead artist, and a bunch of talented people? Who the fuck did you think? Jesus Christ.

it´s not what we think, it`s what you think, so:
Jason Suinn, Scott Campbell, Scotty Everts (if he still wanted to do games), that guy who did the concept art for Fallout 1 (his name escapes me)

See? It wasn`t difficult was it? Boy you really lacked attention when you were a kid.

see Star Wars Tales #24, on sale at comic book stores near you

I can´t, i`m too busy doing your mother MCA :D

For the rest of the interview i`ll reply later on since MCAs mother is calling again. the woman is unsatiable.

Gee. That was a fun read. I'm glad MCA apparently won't be working on any future FO titles.

There'd probably be a main character with amnesia.

And Odin's mom is mine.
