Fallout for PSP?

What is the likelihood of someone being able to produce a psp version of past fallout games? Just thought I would put that little nugget out there.

He is referring to the original games, AlteredEgo.

As for your question, eleventh_year, it's probably possibly, though I don't know of anyone working on it. Closest is the mobile game projects Fallout 0 and Nuclear Collapse

Oh, whoops, so you did!

DS, PSP, all the same to me, I haven't touched a handheld since the Sega Game Gear

Yes I could see the controls being much less cumbersome with the DS. Would be fun i it was ever done, but I doubt it.

Brother None: The reason being the DS has a dual screen, with one of them being a touchscreen (using a pen), the PSP "only" has directional keys and a D-pad thing and a few buttons.

I quite agree. Would be very cool if Bethesda would ever consider porting FO1/2 to the DS and making it work the with touchscreen controls... they do have the ability to do that, owning the Fallout IP, right?

I don't believe they do have the rights to F1/2, but only to F3.

I was under the impression that the second deal between Bethesda and Interplay gave Bethesda rights to the Fallout IP in general (rather than just for a sequel or series or sequels), with the single exception of a Fallout MMO (which Beth will probably get the rights to in 2 years time anyway). I don't know exactly where the original Fallouts stand in that whole thing, though. Gonna have to remember where I saw a link posted to the agreement and wade through the legalese...

The DS probably has the best setup for it, but I don't know if those DS cartridges could hold all the information. Fallout is a big game, as is 2.

This is true... the Nintendo DS cards can only hold around 256 MBs. The first Fallout takes up 561 MBs (that's with a few patches/mods in there too) on my hard drive. Even taking compression into account, it'd still be a bit too tight of a squeeze.

Oh well, thanks for killing that idea by making us look at facts and stuff. :P

Edit: D'oh! Ausir beat me to it by one stinkin' minute... *sulks*

Although, you also have to keep in mind that all of the art could be lower resolution, since it's only going to be displayed on a tiny LCD screen. That might cut out some space... not to mention the movies.

They couldn't make a DS card with more space? SD cards are smaller, and can have upwards of a gig...

That would be awesome to have a portable version of fallout. I would fail every single one of my classes.

Maybe I should just buy a laptop. Hmm...

Classes? Pah! If I had portable Fallout (well, along with portable Arcanum and portable Civ IV) I'd never get out of bed!
... so maybe it's a good thing it doesn't exist.

Fallout could easily be done on the DS. Let's not forget that Capcom has ported RE2 to N64, on a 64MB cartridge, mostly intact (except for the Extreme Battle mode) as well as ported the first RE to the DS fully intact on a 128 MB cart.
