Fallout: New Vegas 75% off on Direct2Drive

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
In case you're intrigued by the idea of buying New Vegas but have ultimately decided that the price is too high for a game running on Gamebryo, you may be interested in knowing that the digital collector's edition of Fallout: New Vegas is 75% off on Direct2Drive, for both North America (which makes the price $12.50) and Europe (which would make the price £8.75/€9.99).

The Digital Collector's Edition includes a pdf version of All Roads and, of course, New Vegas being a Steamworks game, you can register your copy on Steam and sidestep Direct2Drive's download system altogether.

Excellent deal, but I noticed D2D's country restriction for this deal. Living in the Netherlands myself, which is inside the restricted zone for this game, does this mean I won't be able to play it at all or is there some kind of work-around available?

I don't understand the question. This version is not restricted for Dutch consumers, since we're one of the countries listed. You just can't buy the .com version.

Pretty sweet deal... I need a PC copy but I'm holding out for the GOTY somewhere down the road. Tempting though.

A friend at work claims that buying it on D2D gave him a CD key, which he then was able to redeem on Steam. I'm not sure how this might impact localized copies, of course.

Edit: Wow was the steamworks part in the newspost earlier? I need to go to bed.

For this price you could buy the game and all four DLC for the same price as a GOTY edition. :?

Downloaded it from France and installed it. Thanks for the info, that's some good offer - unless you want to wait another year for low-price GOTY.
Too bad you still have to use Steam, though...

Anybody bought it for usage in Polish/Czech/Russian region? Does/will it it work?

Considering those countries (Poland and Russia) are not among the regions listed: no, in principle it won't work. They're not selling the 1C (or whoever the publisher is) version of New Vegas on D2D.

huh?

"This product is only available for purchase in Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic,"

Smejki is from Czechland like me, so he can buy it.

I personally bought it on D2D when my CE was still in transit on launch and no problem, registered it on steam, downloaded, finished it.

That...doesn't actually make sense. 1C is the publisher in the Czech Republic according to the Vault, and digital retailers have to sign specific deals with local publishers to be able to offer it in their region (except if digital download was a separate clause in the publishing contract, but it wasn't here). If it has 1C signed, it should list Poland and Russia too.

Probably a mix-up if it's selling the non-1C version to a 1C-region (or the Vault is wrong), but whatever. If it works, it works, thanks for answering his question.

Direct2Drive also sold Dead Money in 1C regions, but not Honest Hearts. And yes, 1C (via its subsidiary Cenega) is the publisher in Czech Republic.

I don't know what the deal is with these publishing agreements and whatnots, I just know I would never buy anything from 1C/Cenega because they suck when it comes to...everything. So CE from UK and D2D for playing at launch was ideal.
Interesting that Dead Money I cannot buy now on D2D, but base game, yes. But I can buy both DLCs on Steam.

I won't though, since I am waiting for them to be all out and will get them all at once for a second playthrough.

For this price at D2D it is absolutely incredible value though, I am almost tempted to buy it for a third time and gift it to someone.
