Fallout: New Vegas E3 Trailer

Bleh, even going in expecting an "omg action!" trailer, this was pretty disappointing. I do like the environments quite a bit, I think the overall lighting makes a pretty big difference from F3 thankfully. I also loved the shot of the robot driving down the Vegas street.

But I dunno... The orbital laser, those rockets shooting off... Caesar's Legion looks more and more stupid the more we see of them (that look just does not work with this engine, it looks fucking awful). Those rattlesnake dogs look dumb as hell.

I still have more faith in OEI than Beth when it comes to justifying "wild" ideas in the game and I think the roleplaying and choices will probably be pretty great. But it still looks like there is a whole lot of stupid in the game.

I can see it. You find an Eyebot with a recording on it. You go to the location it tells to find some Enclave. Let's brainstorm here:

A. They could be derelict Enclave soldiers much like how the D.C. BoS spawned the Outcasts and they need your help for something.

B. They're actual Enclave soldiers in a war with the BoS and the BoS have rebuilt Liberty Prime and the Enclave need your help.

C. It's Col. Autumn!

D. It's a trap!

Or that Eyebot was a stray and there won't be any Enclave.

I personally hope it was just something like "Fallout is now going to Vegas from D.C". I found that wandering eyebot sympathic, would be nice eastern egg.

And how about deadbeat Col. Autumn staring in to his drink in corner of a strip bar?

What a joke! Since when do AAA companies show easter eggs in pre-release trailers? What planet are you on!?

Not in the one I would like to be.

What I ment was the primary meaning of that eyebot was to show that "[bethesdas] Fallout is now going to Vegas from D.C" AND it will probably be found crashed somewhere(would fit the fo3 style "umm... haha?"-humour writing).

For me, it was pretty much what I expected from an E3 trailer.

Doubt it. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they returned in Bethesda's FO4.

Didn't Obsidian already say that this will only have a few references to Fallout 3 and not be a direct sequel at all?

I wouldn't be surprised, Bethesda had a lack of originality with a lot of the things in Fallout 3. Their "writers" (if you can call them that) will probably just rehash them again or something.

Also, I like your new avatar. :)

That was an uninteresting trailer. All the silly shit is very reminiscent of New Reno, but the "silly shit setting effect" has been kind of a given for this game for a while now.

Newpost it already, dammit!

Yeah. No idea why no one did. My apologies. 's not up to NMA's standards.

It's not 100% identical but close enough to be a "re-imagining" of the same gun. Or maybe e.g. Glock 90 instead of Glock 86. Definitely the same series anyways.

The plasma pistol is actually an extremely faithful recreation of the Extended Capacity version of the Glock 86. (Disapointingly the sound effect has no similarity, though.)

The tubes on the side that Lexx labelled with question marks are on the original Ext Cap picture.

This is the Plasma Pistol (Ext. Cap.)

The only thing it is missing is the scope. I assume this is what the plasma pistol will look like when you've given it an Extended Capacity upgrade but not a Scope upgrade.

It's a shame that it doesn't look as cool as the Glock 86 that is on Fallout 3 Nexus (and which i've got in my EWE: Energy Weapons Enhanced mod, heh). It's got cool green LEDS that flash in a pattern rather than just a solid green glow on the side.

When originally watching the trailer I saw the bit with the plasma pistol, I immediately rewound cause I was curious as to whether they had reused the crappy Fallout 3 Enclave plasma pistol or whether they'd given us some pre-war technology, and was very gratified to see that it was in fact the classic Glock.

I'm a big energy weapons fan (duh, I made the mod EWE: Energy Weapons Enhanced) so it's cool seeing that they've brought back the glock 86, and we've already been told that they've brought back the P94 Plasma Rifle as well, though they've called it a Plasma Caster, which is fair enough cause the thing never looked rifle-like at all. (Until Fallout Tactics, which gave it a nice redesign to be more rifle-like. That's one change Tactics made that I didn't mind.)

What does everyone think of the upgraded laser rifle? Nice to see they did something unique for the scope. (Unlike all the Fallout 3 pc mods that just stick a regular sniper rifle scope on the top, heh.) Given the high-tech look I wonder if it will have any sort of unique visual effect when looking through the scope, or if it will just be zoomed in.

In fact, the shape of it reminds me of the shape of the equpment on top of the classic Wattz 2000 laser rifle. I'd have rather they actually brought back the classic Wattz rifle, but at least they seemed to have made a nod towards it.

I'm curious to know what it will look like when "aiming" the laser rifle without the scope upgrade, since it still looks like the rifle completely lacks any sort of ironsights.

Though was there ever a sign the Eybot was a enclave consturction ? It might have been simply a propaganda tool from before the war which was left around the whole land when the bombs droped and one could always asume that the enclave and others simply started to collect some and use them again. Who knows.

And there is the fact that there were similar floating security bot things that were essentially hovering eyes in Fallout 1 and 2. I recall them in the Sierra Army Depot as well as other places.

The fact that it is playing music appropraite to Las Vegas rather than the patriotic tunes of Fallout 3 rather suggests it is not being used by the Enclave.

If there were a tiny Enclave prescence in the game, they could justify it as Van Buren was originally supposed to have "Enclave remnants" or something, a small group of Enclave soldiers that hadn't been on the Oil Rig when it blew in Fallout 2. So any Enclave remnants in New Vegas could be from the Fallout 2 oil rig group, or the Fallout 3 Raven Rock group.

But I'd be happy with a complete lack of Enclave.

well since the Enclave in F3 was already marching from the west to the east (from F2 to F3) for them marching back again ... doesnt make much sense to me again. I could accept it though if they have been a group of left overs from the travel from Navarro eventualy.

Well the walking animation has changed, shame it's still horrible. Maybe they just weren't mean to walk.

Also first ingame shot of the cover art dude's helmet. Surprised it hasn't turned up before.

It is indeed! For some reason I forgot to compare it to the extended capacity version.

Hah, now I see it too. It's still not 100% the same tho'. (See the back part of the gun [edit: now when I look again, the difference is marginal. Let's wait and see until we have some better view.)

Now I remember about the plasma rifle too. I just wonder how they have realized it in Fallout 3-style, without changing the animations or similar. Because, the original model can't be build 1:1 (or at least very close to 1:1) that simple. Same with the flamer-- When I created my model for Fallout 3, I needed to change the handle, because it didn't fit.

Me? I never wrote that.

I think that this is Hoover Dam. First I wasn't sure, but now I am pretty much. Check my painting skills, it's pretty obvious to me:

I am not 100% sure yet, if it fits my expectations or not. I somehow expected the plattform with the gun on it to be bigger. I like, that they haven't overdone the broken street, like on the concept art. Also the NCR flag on the gun is missing, which is sad-- could be my first mod. :>

/Edit: And I have to say, the artillery in the concept looks much better, imo.
