Fallout: New Vegas Pre-Order Bonuses

i was hoping that the "classic" vault 13 suit was just a placeholder and that they're making the real suit later on....

guess not

These bonuses are all just things you'd find normally in the game, they probably just have some altered stats to make them appropriate for the opening.

However, some of these are definitely better than others, I mean, starting off with Super Stimpacks or Repair Kits is ten times better than starting off with a flask or poison.

I thought the same thing when they first revealed the V13 suit that I do now: that any armors available through preorder were going to be marginally altered versions of armors from FO3.

The Caravan pack looks most appealing. It looks like theirs is the only armor where the devs even bothered to make any significant alterations, and from what I've heard that one could very well just be a minor cosmetic tweak to the standard New Vegas leathers.

I'm probably still picking up the Collector's Edition, but I'm not seeing a lot of incentive to do it early.

I have no option but to start with the "The Tribal Pack" which doesn't interest me at all. I am more the stealth type of guy. But there is no walmart here in europe and steam is not an option for me since the ps3 version is my only option for now.

This looks really lame imho. I have no idea why you guys like it so much. It goes from retarded (tribal aka tire on shoulder) to 'meh'(caravan jacket).

say what? the Tribal pack sounds like the perfect start for an assassin type character.

Yep. A poisoned spear or machete doesn't make sound unlike a shotgun, grenade launcher, or pistol.

Mods - I thought this at the moment the first such preorder bonus appeared.

I prefer the classic pack. And the vault suit it armored for two good reasons:
- Fallout 3's Armored Vault Suit indeed looks like an exact copy of the one shown at the ending movie in Fallout 1. Therefore, the suit from that ending movie could be called "armored vault suit".
- Balance reasons - every other pack includes an armor that can't be compared with a "non-armored" vault suit.

Keep in mind, we are talking about Oblivion / Fallout 3 engine here. There is no place for "assassin type characters", as everyone is aware of you in ninja-speed. In general, all "classes" so far in both games have been "imagined by fans" only.

20 gauge shotgun? is this a weaker weapon compared to the normal 12 gauge or 12 gauge has been replaced by 20?

as far as I know gauge is just the bore of the barrel, and 20 gauge would hold shot and therefore do less damage (i think). I'm not a firearm owner.

edit: hold less shot.

I think the lower the gauge the lower the range but the more stopping power.

I personally own only 12 gauge shotguns but to my knowledge:

10 = big (old west double barrel guns)

12 = medium (most common)

20 = small

Hey, you think there's idiots out there who will buy all four? Eh? :)

I just never thought I'd see the day that people would be satisfied with getting code, 0's and 1's, as an extra.

Damn.

What's worse is the "Time Saver" packs that a lot of games have made available.

Don't feel like playing your game to unlock everything?

GIVE US $10 AND WE'LL UNLOCK IT ALL FOR YOU!

YAY!

The interesting bits are the things we aren't seeing like the spears and such. Also I wonder if you can kill yourself with super stims.

Meh, most of it is uninteresting but I can't wait to try out the throwing spears. :) Still sad that the "classic" Vault 13 suit is not classic at all.

Hell, if the UK gets it all in a Collector's Edition like we usually do (see: Just Cause 2, Red Dead Redemption) then maybe I'll get it for PC (assuming I have my new PC by then).

Have you noticed that those two pictures are the opposite directions of thesame place?

IMHO the 13 vault suit is very well done and its like the one at the end of Fallout repaired in years of use...

ok maybe the 13 is smaller but... its the fkin same thing

Edit: and IMHO the weapon could be an holstered 10mm pistol.
Not a sawed shotgun... if u have the bloody mess trait u kill the overseer with a 10mm pistol right?
