Fallout Sound Files

Urlag

First time out of the vault
Hey there ...

for a project i am working on, i ned a few specific sound files from Fallout 1/2 ... did not find anything on the net, and have no idea how to extract them from the game.

i need:
Wattz 2000 laser rifle sounds (shoot + reload) -DONE
Combat shotgun sounds (shoot + burst + reload) -DONE
10mm pistol sounds (shoot + reload) -DONE

a few Dying sounds (cut in half by laser and such things)
Footlocker opening and closing sound
that stupid Bird sound
Wasteland wind sound

maybe somenoe can help me with that or has them already extracted?

Regards

You could try playing it and using recording software to get the sounds, then crop out the rest of the noise. It'd be a pain in the keister, but it could be done.

I can tell you how to get the weapon sounds (firing, reload, burst, misfire) easily.
You can get them all from the http://fallout.wikia.com/ .

Just go to the weapon's page (you can use the search bar), sometimes you might end up in a page that contains all the versions in all the games with that weapon, you will need to look on the side and click on the Fallout/Fallout 2 version link (or just scroll through the page and find the Gameplay Article link for that game). Then you can use the page Contents links to go straight to the Sounds section (or just scroll to the bottom of the page, since it is usually at the bottom), press the "Play" button and then click on the "More" link, that will make a menu appear with the "Download file" option.

EDIT: I just remembered that they have weapon sounds category, that makes it even easier:
Fallout Weapon Sounds
Fallout 2 Weapon Sounds

Thank you ... thats it for the gun sounds ... but any idea where to get the other ones?

Unfortunately I can't help there.
The only files I ever messed around from the classic games were graphic files (I made some edits and stuff for the Fallout of Nevada English translation), I never messed with the sound files :-(.

It's all in the sound/sfx/ folder. The file naming is kinda crap, so you probably won't get around extracting all of them, converting all of them, then listening to all of them to find what you're looking for.

Oh, if you're already at it, maybe you can look out for the "car refueling" sound file. I need that one. :>
(There was a special sound file for it, if I remember right... right?)
