Fallout Tactics: Movies

Ragfox

First time out of the vault
(Not sure I'm posting in the right place, but...)

I'm working on the Italian translation of Fallout Tactics (I've already translated Fallout2 and soon I'm going to do the same with the original Fallout) and I have to add subtitles to the movies (intro, cutscenes, etc.)
Unfortunately, FO:T is missing subtitles and I wasn't able to find a text file containing a transcription. I've tried to transcript the speeches myself, but my comprehension of spoken English/American is not so good (especially when I try to get what the Sergeant in the movie at the beginning of the game is saying - or yelling, if you prefer).
So, if there's anyone who's willing to lend me a hand with the transcription of the speeches of the movies, please let me know: the best I can do to thank my "saviour(s)" is to put his(/her/their) (nick)name(s) in the Credits of the Italian version of FO:T.
Thanks in advance.

PS. The movies are located in the core/movies directory inside FO:T dir (if I'm not mistaken), and you can use the RAD Video Tools to see them (www.radgametools.com)

PPS. If you want to post here the transcriptions, it would be great.

Okay, I've been able to understand the 90% of the Sergeant's Speech (file: secondary.bik), but without a little help from you, I think I'm stuck.

"Ten-HUT! All right, you (near-mutated?) (rednecks?) (???) of radiated flesh listen up! I'm (Colin Ratchett?). [cut]

The Elders have ordered me to mould you floppy (???) (berry picking?) (rad-rotten?) brahmin-kissers into capable warriors. [cut]

First level of training will be recruitment (???) [cut]

Now get your (???) and superstitious ass on an educated march [cut]"

Please, help me fill those (???)...

Here's what he says:

"Ten-hut!

All right you mutated, redneck, green-skinned sacks of irradiated flesh, listen up!

My name is Paladin Raczak [pronounced "Rat check"]. I'm responsible for training you backwood maggots in the art of war and survival.

In my time in the Brotherhood, I have personally trained nearly 50 initiates, and I am proud to say that almost 14 of them are still alive and kickin'.

The Elders have ordered me to mold you flabby, hip-slappin', berry-pickin', rat rubbin' brahmin kissers into capable warriors, and I am going to do it - even if it kills you.

I will teach you how to eat, sleep, walk, talk, shoot, spit like a Brotherhood soldier.

First level of training will be recruitment detail. You will go to the surrounding villages and see what able-bodied primates are ready for an honest life's work. It will be your duty to remind the village elders that if they want continued protection from the scum of this Earth, they will uphold their end of the deal and continue to supply their best and brightest for Brotherhood training.

Now get your weak-kneed, soft-skinned uneducated butts to the armory. You will recieve basic armor and weapons. There are three simple rules to follow with Brotherhood equipment.

If you damage your weapon, you will spend a week in the box. If you damage your armor, you will spend a week in the box. If you lose either, I will kill you myself.

(door opens)

Oh, and ladies - welcome to the Brotherhood of Steel."

If you need help with anything else e-mail me at utscw@yahoo.com

Isn't Raczak the name of a guy in Starship Troopers (movie)? The one handed teacher/unit commander?

Actually it is Paladin Rychek

And not to nitpick, but some of the wording is incorrect.

first is this: "scum of this world", not scum of this earth

then this: "One final thing ladies", not oh, and ladies

I tried my best. You tend to lose your perspective after watching it twenty times to get the script. ;)

I wasn't sure whether is was supposed to be "Rycheck" or "Razcak", as the dude seemed to be a mixture of four characters from both the Starship Troopers movie and the book.

Haven't read the book. :(
But I have seen the movie. :)

Have I missed much? If someone would make a movie about the book, I might be interested.

The book and the movie are nothing alike. The book is much better if you like power armor and a thought-provoking read.

The movie has nothing to do with the book, aside from the names of three characters.

The only person who created the movie that read the book was the guy who did the original script; its pretty good, too, if you look it up on the internet.

Biggest mistake they made was that Johnny Rico is Phillipino, not a blue-eyed, blonde-haired poster boy for the Aryan nation.

I was aware that some parts were incorrect (I'm pretty sure there's also a "superstitious" that it was not mentioned by Ratlaw83 - but he did a great work anyway).
And thank you for the name of the Paladin (I'm trying to get all the details, even if the people who will use my translation will not notice any difference - probably).

Hey ladies.. Is it possible to "open" that Intro.bik
(I think its the movie where the Commander speak to you in the beginning) --
I wanna send it to a friend :P

Gluder if you dl the Radtools program they have here on NMA you can watch it to your hearts content. 8)

Its doenst personally bother me that much, but the mods have the rules and they enforce them. It was more just a friendly hint to save him from a worse fate later...

Translated, or approx, isn't a problem at all. It is entire posts that are non-English that we try to avoid. To avoid the general problems with that (usually by drama whores or people playing the Language Card on purpose), we will suggest that they explain the problem via PMs to a person who speaks the language and possibly have a translated version of the question as well. As you could probably tell by the context, it is usually limited to game help topics or in specific forums (non-NMA main). Otherwise, people would post a lot more often in their mothertongue, and then it is only available to a select few others.
