Fallout1&2 on iphone(ipad)

hi
i joined the forum today to talk about this.
im not talkin about the possiblity...
belive it or not
i actually ran the fallout 1 on my ipad1
(i think no one done it before, right?)
with dosbox on ipad and dos version of fallout 1
its working without any error
but its runing too slow to play
it was not bad till making character..and sound is ok

ive ran fallout 1 only but im sure 2 is slower

any idea to make it faster?

ps.
if u want to try it on your i device, just ask me
it was not difficult but you need to jail break
and some trick on fallout config file and dos box

Hey did you see my thread from today as well? I ran fallout 1 in dosbox on Android.

Can you tell me how you managed to run fallout 2 in dos? I was going to work on that a bit today but it seems you already have a head start.

I can help you to get it running faster. I don't have an Ipad to test for you but I have some info that will help you mod the DosBox files and improve performance. You may also need to mess with the fallout 1 config file.

Do you mean to run win95 from QEMU and play it it through there? Please tell me how to access my files from QEMU. If I could do this while in win95 or 98 I could load all sorts of games.

I have searched for a way to do this unsuccessfully. With the BOSH program I can see small files in my HDD folder but I am unable to find fallout once I place it there.

If you can help me run it like this, then I will make an instructional video for us all to share.

No, Iphone and ipad can use dosbox named idos(dospad)
its kind of dosbox but it looks differnt, serch on google
i tried Bochs but its not working (same problem with you)
im fixing CFG files with your links
cpu and rander on dosbox and entire fallout.cfg
it seems better but still slow
and the dos version things you asked
i found there is no dos version of fallout2 (sorry)
fallout 1 have own dos version installer in its cd
you dont need to patch it
setup.exe is for windows install.exe is for dos

Would an Iphone 3Gs be able to run it in Idos? I have an iphone I could try it on but I doubt it will be as good as your ipad.

Let me know if you can run the ambient noises and music in videos without major lag. My version of Android is a Beta which has several sound issues. Its hard for me to know if its my device or my settings that is causing the slowdown.

I am sad to hear there isn't a way to run fallout 2 in Dos. Its hard to know for sure because people have claimed to do it before.

I used to own the fallout CD's but made the mistake of lending them to a friend years ago:(

Its possible to mount win 95 with DosBox, so i'm hoping there's a way to access the file system too. If that's possible it could open up lots of new options. I have written the developer of DosBox Turbo and asked about this. I have yet to hear back from him but I will keep you posted.

what about your android
is it better?
and idos is not running isolated,
its running with Ios`s spring board
but booting an ipad in dos is impossible

Have a good sleep I will work a little on the problem. Is there a config file for the idos program? I will need to jailbreak my phone, i'll have to look that up too lol.

The HP TouchPad has decent hardware, Snapdragon dual core arm @ 1.2Ghz, Adreno 220 GPU and 1GB of ddr2

I found that I had to mess with the DosBox Config before I got decent performance. At first it was just too slow.
 
Update! I have made some progress running fallout 2 with the Bochs program. Got it to show me the files but it won't run. It gives me error msgs when I launch the EXE.

I have tried win 95 & 98 but both are giving errors. I've not been able to get around the fact that the display is set to 16 colors. I messed with a few other games but nothing would start.

I've seen this one video of a guy running fallout 2 but I have no idea how he managed to do it.

It's Confirmed! Fallout 2 will run on Android with libSDL. Just don't ask to explain yet. I believe I understand but I won't know for sure till I can reproduce the results in English.

Facts
1)It works and you can save and load games.
2)There is no sound, working on it...
3) Performance is slow but playable, working on it..
4)It's currently only in Russian but I am working on that.
5)The videos run worse than in my fallout 1 video with DOS but they do run.

Thanks is owed to WMorroWM for showing me how to run it. Now I must make it work for the masses of Androids looking to migrate to the wasteland.
