Favourite OST?

Atomic Postman

Vault Archives Overseer
The Fallout series has been rather blessed in having two great original soundtrack composers in Mark Morgan and Inon Zur, and I was wondering what tracks were everyone's favourite? From any game, because as terrible as Fallout 4 was in nearly every aspect I actually really liked the OST.

I think my favourite overall is Gold Slouch by Mark Morgan

It's just the essence of New California and the Wasteland in general. If I had to pick a song to represent the atmosphere and tone of Fallout, it'd be Gold Slouch.

Second favourite is "Rubble of the Forgotten" for similar reasons, except instead of Fallout in general, it's New Vegas in a bottle.

"How are you holding up?"

I love this banger, because even though the game shows very little of the actual highwayman driving around, this immediately sets the tone of it.

It's 106 miles to Arroyo, we've got a full fusion cell, half a pack of RadAway, it's midnight, and I'm wearing a 50 year old Vault 13 jumpsuit. Let's hit it.

my fav is all clear signal, it starts slow, but then gets groovy

close 2nd is of course "khans of california"

Might came out as a fanboying, but I love all of Mark Morgan's work in Fallout 1 and 2 equally. And as much as I think of him as inherently inferior, I think Inon Zur's work as of New Vegas is still so good. I'll never forget Doc Mitchell's first words as my Courier awoke for the first time after getting shot in the head to the tune of Rubble of the Forgotten.

However, if I really, REALLY have to pick a favorite, I'll have to vouch for Metallic Monks. That soundtrack I heard across New Vegas for the first time has become the immediate melody I'm hearing in my head, every time I think about Fallout.

Also, if we're allowed to include TC mod's OST, I'm recommending y'all to listen to the soundtrack playing in Uranium City in Fallout of Nevada.

I don't know if it's necessarily my all-time favorite, but the first thing that came to mind was "Dream Town" from Fallout 2. From the moment that you first enter Modoc that song sets the tone and tells you everything you need to know, and it does an excellent job conveying the spirit of a dying town.

Radiation Storm is my favourite one because it makes exploring the Glow at night an unforgettable experience.

Other than that, New Vegas nailed Vault 22 with Vault of the Future, which brings the creepy notes in the track together with the vault's overall feel of uncertainty. To this day I get a slight jumpscare when accidentially bumping into a spore carrier I forgot was there.

It's really hard for me to choose a favorite.

Vault of The Future has this creepy yet oddly comforting feel to it. Like, to an outsider's perspective, vault life may seem kinda off-puting, but to the Vault Dweller and the denizens of Vault 13, it's home.

Industrial Junk captures the feeling of visiting a small and rough looking town in the middle of the desert. Kinda has a homey kind of feel, but you know that something is lurking in the shadows.

Radiation Storm is just beautiful. Not much to be said really.

Mark Morgan is a genius.

Honestly from the echoing sirens of Metallic Monks or the machine sounding like build up start to The Vault of the Future and the silent yet eerie droans of Acolytes of the New God those three stood out to me as my favorite with how they fit the world they live in and matching there locations, even if I never played Fallout 1 I loved there inclusion and other great soundtracks from Fallout 1/2 in Fallout New Vegas.

Mine.
War. War never changes. The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.
But war never changes.

This. You haven't left the main menu yet already know that the world is not so welcoming being not yet recovered from the apocalypse.

I guess the only unique and not totally a copy&paste Mark Morgan's effort. Perfectly captures the feel and look of well, the worldwide industrial junkyard that all the progress made by humans, all the infrastructures, cities, power stations, factories, you name it devolved into, with no hope of restoration. Not just by the effort of the war, though. The butthurt belt of europe should play this track 24/7 on all it's Russia blaming states due to them being so industrially devolved after "decommunisation". It feels so just and fitting now.

It is definitely one of the underrated soundtracks in the series although a bit sparse.

Getting the Highwayman up and running and leaving that Den shithole after struggling to scratch together enough caps to pay both Metzger and the junkyard guy, hearing "My Chrysalis Highwayman" for the first time, is one of my stand-out moments in gaming.
