Feargus Urquhart on how Obsidian and Bethesda view Fallout

If it didn't have the 'Fallout' moniker, I think most of us would have enjoyed it quite a bit.

Hah. Like this?

"Because sometimes, even when the cheerleader is crap in the sack, it's still fun to chase after her."

I laughed. Pretty well written. A couple of awkward turns of phrase, but it was a good read.

Liked New Vegas. A lot. One of my favorite games.

Hardcore mode is lolimmersive, although I turned it off partway through over concerns about the economy. Of course, later in the game food, water, and raw materials supplies are secured.

i think the moniker we are going with is FINO fallout in name only

i played FO3

it was horrible in lots of ways. mostly in destroying the setting. its not much of a wasteland if you have enemies every 50 feet which removes credibility to all the stashes you find just laying around.

if it was much more of a wasteland, then those stashes would make sense.

Monikers strike me as both confusing and somewhat juvenile. It's Fallout 3. At least we don't call it "Fallout" here.

So, are you still mentally in that alternate universe?

Sure.

PR or not, I guess it's only common sense that Feargus Urquhart would be cautious about his statements for the sake of retaining a professional and productive relationship with the customer (Bethesda).. But I am still a bit surprised that it boils down to just being about Pip and Vault.. Unless there is more in that very short review.

From Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout:Tactics to this.. I called Fallout 3 for Fallout:Shooter.. Good old review, btw.

I haven't played New Vegas yet, so I can't compare the two. But I couldn't help but compare FO3 to FO1&2 while I was playing and that's pretty much why I never finished FO3. Everything in that game annoyed me. In the beginning when it is walking you through the tutorial and they made you shoot a rad roach with a BB Gun or whatever (been a while since I played), I restarted the game because I thought I had accidentally made some kind of decision on what kind of character I wanted to play at that point. Of course, I was wrong, those decisions weren't until later and they were basically forcing you to kill something right away. Man, that annoyed me. Really looking forward to F:NV to try a pacifist run, since, y'know, Obsidian will let me do those kinds of things. :p

And then there was the terrible writing. Ugh.

Yeah, if I had gone into FO3 not knowing anything about the Fallout universe or the previous games, I probably would've enjoyed it. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.
