Finally finished my Freespace 2 walkthrough/letsplay (no commentary)

Residential Zealous Evolved Nano Organism

All 41 missions of the game, recorded.

There is a bit of lag and issues in the final missions, I could have lowered the settings to cope, but honestly they're not very common.

If you guys have never played the game, this could possibly help.

Nice, Freespace was a great series. Could really use a sequel or something.

The rights are with Interplay, so yeah, it'd probably going to be shite.

/edit: Man, it's been ages. I think I ever played Freespace 1, though.

Get the Source Code Project.

It omes with the FSPort, a free exact copy of Freespace 1, with Freespace 2's upgraded engine and graphics.

I remember Descent! That was a great fucking game when you were 11 and 3D was just becoming a thing.
As for Freespace, I never really got into it. The dogfighting was so much different (better?) than Tie Fighter et al Star Wars games that it never took hold of me.

Wasn't Descent the first one?

I think he means Descent, not Descent: Freespace. Freespace is not actually related to Descent (although Volition would later make Red Faction, which allegedly has some ties to Descent).

Ahhh.

Never played Descent. ;(

I miss Volition, Red Faction 1 and 3 was fucking awesome, as was Freespace.

Indeed.
So Volition was kind of a successor to Parallax Software with much of the same people, and Red Faction was originally supposed to be Descent 4 but got turned into an FPS later. Some rumours say that they all take place in the same universe, but that's not true.
You should really play Descent, those were awesome games.
Man, Interplay was a great publisher back then. Everytime I fired up a game and saw that logo I knew I was about to play some awesome stuff.

How the mighty have fallen, mmm?

Fuck I hate modern gaming... ;(

Nowadays you'd post the updated graphics Freespace 2 and people would be like "NOT GOOD ENOUGH GRAPHICS! WHERE's THE MULTIPLAYER SURVIVAL VERSION!?"

Probably earlier. They were in financial trouble as early as 1998, but I guess the point of no return was in 2001 when Titus owned the majority of Interplay and proceeded to gut them. The question remains wether Herve Caen was the tipping point or if he inherited a sinking ship to begin with.

;(

Meanwhile EA gets to exist...

I guess that's what happens when there's like a handful of fucking game companies nowadays.

Same shit with phones, if there's only like two-three big guys running the industry, they can do anything and no one will do a thing about it.
