FireFox 3.0 Download Day

Firefox 3.0 has been up for download now for about an hour.

The webpage is totally hammered, so don't expect any surfing to it atm. :)

But for those wanting to download it, here's a direct link: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=win&lang=en-GB

Be warned however, even if installed elsewhere, it will "take over" your old FF 2.0 install. The skin also sucks donkeydick, but that's easily solved with an add-on as soon as the webpages are back up. :)

Yeesh, no improvements on the look, no.

It appears to work fine with the sparse few plug-ins I have (nearly none).

Huzzah I guess.

Yes, FF is objectively very good. In deleting your bookmarks. :)
euhm, what?

more like user ineptitude, i suspect. :P

and nearly all decent add-ons and themes already have a FF3 compatible version.

Oh I dunno, Thunderbird once deleted all my mail, through no fault of mine. Never had similar problems with Firefox, but I wouldn't think it beyond the program to pull said tricks. Nor beyond Iexplore, for that reason.

Ok, been using 3.0 for 5 minutes now and I already dislike a number of added "functionalities". Is there any way to get it to use the URL bar normally, this "search for words in visited sites" thing horrifies me, I want my good old "show URLS beginning with..." back

I've been trying FF3 since betA 5. I've got used to this feature in a couple of days. Now I really like it.

Really, two or three years ago. Not sure at all which version was latest at the time. Just know no traitorous add-on has been installed.

As I wasn't interested in browser-related hanky-panky at all during that time, I just changed the browser instead of looking for a source of my problems.

How come it says Download Day is June 18:th?

Today you'll make history with Firefox
17 july 2008 20:19

Are you ready to make history? Are you ready to set a World Record? Today is Download Day. To become part of the official Guinness World Record you must download Firefox 3 by 17:00 UTC on June 18, 2008, or roughly 24 hours from now.

And the fact that the Firefox site lists Version 2 as the latest one (so far) and that Firefox 3 is only in beta 3?!

I didn't ask if anyone thought I could get used to it, I asked how I could turn it off.

Don't tell me I can't turn this nonsense off.

I won't. Someone else will, cause it's impossible to turn it off as far as I know.

I haven't run into any problems so far, but it's hardly a leap forward from the last 2.* version, which isn't surprising.

There's no reason to get it right now instead of waiting for it to be developed further, except if you want to join the record attempt

Yeah, I'll probably wait until they release 3.0.0.1 before trying it.

Great! I got rid of that completely useless feature. And changing the option to display only typed addresses helped a lot too.

The Download Day already started: http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worldrecord/

Go and get Firefox 3, it's free and it isn't an integrated part of your OS...
Sorry for the mistake
I clicked on the wrong button: "New Topic" instead of "Post Reply" on the Firefox 3 - going for the record topic.

It was even the top thread, you dildo.
And thanks for calling me a dildo, it's better than fuck face

If you want, please delete the Topic I created, it was really by mistake...

EDIT: Btw, I like the picture that you now have in your signature 8-)

Well, I saw someone using it at work and it ran INCREDIBLY fast compared to FF2 when running our web application. Seeing that's got me prepared to download it now.

for those, who want old URL typing back, there's an extension called Oldbar: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6227

Victory!

Except that it doesn't fix the stupid algorithm, only the way it is displayed

Still, half a victory!

Haven't noticed anything except that it starts up a lot slower.
