Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!

Seems like a pretty non lucrative job position (in comparison to other software dev jobs):
* Constant overwork because of insane deadlines (up to weeks of 12 hour work days)
* Constant stress because of insane deadlines
* Pay that does not seem to be higher than a regular dev job
* The whole gaming community shitting on the devs (in plural) for bugs and features that they probably did not have enough time fix/include
* Constantly working on games that are profit first, innovation last orientated
* Needing to constantly fight for your job position
I make a few presumptions here that probably hold true for other dev jobs, but seems to me like many of the game devs would be better of working in other software industries. Why do they continue working on games?
