"Game Dev Shitlists"

I have what I like to call my "Game dev shitlist", which is practically a list of any devs I will never buy from, under no circumstances.

I'll pirate them, they're entertaining in the same way watching paint dry is entertaining, so its better than nothing...And shitty reality TV.

Do you guys have such lists? If so, what do you include in them?

Nah piracy isn't something I do anymore. The only things I pirate are songs that I cannot buy and even then it's n00b piracy not hardcore Pirate Bay piracy.

Arr!

I very rarely actively target developers, I prefer to think of series that I'll likely never buy a game from again. In that case I probably won't buy future instalments in the following franchises:
  • Fallout
  • Elder Scrolls
  • Sims
  • Sim City
  • Dragon Age

I don't have anything like that. If a game dev I usually despise actually produces a good game then I'll buy it, when it's on sale. I don't pirate games either, I only pirate tv series episodes so I can be caught up and not be spoiled on the internet and I usually buy the season DVD's when they come out anyway so  .

The only principle I have is that if a game looks like fun but it is straying away from the formula that made the series great in the first place then I won't buy it, I don't condone what Bethesda did to Fallout and I won't condone it being done to any other series out there nor will I support it, and if I have to use Origin or Uplay then I refuse to buy it.

[edit]

Actually, I will pirate an old game if I can't buy it anywhere. There's a demand, it's not my fault that they aren't supplying for it.

I tend to ignore entire devs because buying something of theirs, regardless of what it is, only funds their retarded projects.

example.

Gearbox.

Thanks for fucking up the aliens franchise...Oh? You spent the money you got to develop it on your own shit? FUCKYOU.

Not really. If I see a game I like I'll probably pirate it, and play a few hours. If I like it I'll set aside some money to buy it on Steam, and if I don't there's a good chance I'm uninstalling as soon as. I'm getting into collecting now, so I've decided to give up on no preordering.

If I don't like the game that I preordered, I can sell the SE/CE for more money.

People still think I'm retarded though, for buying something with the intention of either : enjoying it; or selling it for a higher price.

Err sure, that's the reason. Heh.

XD

These days I tend to wait for a while after a game's release and see what people think of it once hype dies down. If I still like the look of a game and people don't look too unfavourably towards it I'll buy it, or wait for a sale.

I literally buy games 1-3 years down the line.

Fuck paying 100% more because of DLC, I don't want to spend 60$+ on half (Or even LESS) of a game.

I take it you're not buying Skyrim Remastered Game of the Year Ultimate Director's Collector Edition then?

I regret buying skyrim by itself for my PS3.

10 minute loading times, and gameplay with some of the worst animations I have ever seen, makes me a sad furry.

Can we please talk about this?
Assassin's Creed 2 "Remaster"

Anyone that hasn't already better be adding Ubisoft to their list.

They didn't fuck up the alien franchise alien games have always been horrible. I played alien resurrection and it was merely okay. Alien isolation was amazing. So you can't say it's been ruined.

I've already said that I'm boycotting any future Bethesda software games unless I see an improvement to their games or they become more consumer friendly

And although not a boycott or blacklist, I don't buy any EA games outside of Bioware.

Konami. They raped hideo kojima and his entire team.

Bioware. I loved bioware back the day, it was company founded by three med students who made video games because they are passionate about them, not for a dam paycheck. Now bioware is a EA/sjw workshop filled with bigotry, and whiny cry babies who think their intellectually superior superior, because they fill their games with trannie demons.

Bethesda. For obvious reasons.

Those three are only ones I truly despise, can't really think of any other ones at the moment.

Oh do I. There's lots of reasons, too.

- Beamdog, because of Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear's social politicking, as well as a buggy as shit release of a game on a 16-year-old plus engine which does less to bridge the story of the games than what the fans could come up with.

- Bioware, because of the douche who is still on their staff shooting his mouth off about killing white people, not to mention the rest of the social politicking they've been doing since Mass Effect 2.

- Double Fine, because Tim Shafer. Enough said. (Fig Crowdfunding too)

- Any devs who've openly said they took advice from Anita (Olly Moss from Firewatch, whom I've gotten into long arguments with), named characters after her (Far Cry 4), or just in general bent over and listened to/praised her with no critical eyes trained back (Richard Garriot of Shroud of the Avatar).

- Gearbox, because they can't stop the social politicking even with a character like Duke Nukem, as well as their shitty business practices. (There's a texture in the World Tour release that gave me this impression.)

- I'll add more as I recall them, but there's a lot.

At BJ, I want to add on the Anita bit that Josh Sawyer backed her videos at one point. Although I don't think it went further than just giving her money.

Bethesda and Bioware.

Bethesda because what they did to Fallout and how they made the Elder Scrolls fell like generic fantasy.

Bioware because they basically made Dragon Age Inquisition a offline single player mmo and then in the opposite direction made SWTOR into a online single player game with some mmo parts.
