underground:
- VATS aimed burst to the head with the SMG and the CETME/G3?
- the CETME/G3 really seems to shoot as if it's an MP5 tbfh...

museum:
- retarded instant repeat taunts.

BoS:
- Lyons getting squished got me giggling, but i bet she survived, regardless of not having a helmet...
- lol, the shuffling feet on the BoS. very nimble powerarmor.

Weird, notice the chaingun in the trench warfare one. The bullet casing disapears in mid air during the VATs shot which looks strange.
not only during VATS.

they're also very much oversized. irl, those would be 30mm shells, or close.

Argh, really, really awful. Miss Lyons runs towards a burning car which - of course - goes BOOM. Then she rollerskates against it till she finally slides around it. Why does a point blank nuclear explosion not kill her, pardon knock her unconscious, when one Fatman shot kills the behemoth, according to Todd by far the toughest thing in the game?

with so much emphasis on cover in action/fps-s these days .. Fallout 3 does away with all of that with

- enemies standing in exposed spaces or charging forward
- ancient 'barrel' cars that don't provide cover but explode

tactical to the max

Wow, I've been talking to people over at Gametrailers, and we all pretty much think this is a contender for Game of the Year. It's a pretty stark contrast from what is being said here.

Yeah that blows my mind how bad the enemy AI is.

It's laughable.

It just goes to show that all the lip services given to innovation, "bringing the series forward" was hollow bullshit. No surprise to anyone who followed the Oblivion development cycle.

Yeah we don't fall easily for gimmicks.
It's all gimmicky wrapped in a thin transparent veil of "innovashun".

Game of the Year?
Wow, the other contenders must be really pathetic then. Really, I can see how people might find this enjoyable, but looking at the live streams that were released and the raw gameplay footage, game of the year shouldn't be within reach for this game.

But the negativity here is largely due to the fact that this is a Fallout fansite. And while Fallout 3 may or may not be a good game by itself, it is a very far cry from the original Fallout games.
Most of us are a bit bitter about the fact that we are probably never going to see a Fallout sequel that actually resembles the original games.

Watching the first now. The supermutants don't show the slightest reaction to being hit by sustained minigun fire. It looks... bad.

So hoping the game works well in areas other than combat (visuals).

Yeah I think getting shot by a mini gun ... no matter who or what you are ... its gonna make ya move around, may as well had different color blocks to represent different enemies .... well graphically i think the game is very nice, movement ... welll what movement.

The weird thing about the a.i is there are some spots where there actually appears to be some. In the Gametrailers TV video there was a short snippet of some fighting between the goody two shoes BOS (The rebel/evil/true BOS wear black and red for some odd reason) and supermutants and two of the BOS soldiers were using cover. It really stood out as it was so unique. :P

Yay for mini-mushroom clouds suspended midair (after Behemoth hit)... They coulda atleast made a separate explosion for airbursts...
Will we get the same effect when hitting a wall, high up on a building I wonder? That'll look retarded. But oh well, in light of the other major issues plaguing this game, its nothing I guess.

The one time I was expecting a bloody mess and where it would make sense and it didn't happen:

Trench warfare vid, 1:15 mark he shoots a rocket at a guy and the guy's body just flies backwards fully intact.

The few seconds are like a microcosm of the disconnect and awkwardness in Bethesda games.

On the top left was "Sentinel Lyons is unconscious" displayed. So I bet, she is one of the invulnerable NPCs.

I don't think it would be possible to have a highly advanced shooter-like AI and RPG gamesystem rules rolled into a single, satisfiable experience. If the enemy was "too smart" you would never get the chance to employ your character's skills, but would instead have to resort to your own skills at FPS combat.

Animations:
You and other humans: Roller disco anyone?
Enemies: Reallygood

AI:
Looked like they played it on easy mode(Todd showed off fallout 3 at e3 by heavivly modding/hacking his character, wouldn't be surprised if they did that when they made these vids either )

Fatman:
Take this weapon out. Actually, you could make it a special weapon required to do something in the game that you only get one shot at and if you miss/hit/get close it changes the story/ending somehow

graphics:
Nothing horrible and the enviorments look great

quests:
Main-If like oblivion then suck(pretty weak with the whole demon gates, what was this Warcraft 2 portals?)
Side-if like oblivion then Awesome(

Doesn't Gametrailers say that about pretty much every high-profile title?

How can you fail here when you model your maps after an existing city? I believe Washington residents will enjoy exploring their hometown the most.

Demonic portals in a Fallout world. I think not.

I think he was referring to the visitors. Every second comment is like GOTY

I seem to remember a LOT of Super Mutant trench warfare in Tactics. All in all the game looks like it's just too damed EASY. I really hope that there is some other difficulty settings or at least that running around with power armor and a minigun wont compose most of the game... I seldom play a big guns char.

so we are to believe this is voluntary castration ?

seriously

lets not find an excuse for pathetic game design

from what i gather beths PR and gamedesign angle leans way too much on The Emperors New Clothes approach ...

i wathched part of bos vid only, and
at first i was like: hey, this looks pretty damn good (bos soldier standing and looking at you in preparation) and i wondered why that chick did show her ugly face instead of using a helmet (which is nice)
but than ... they started moving ... wtf ?
