MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa. -- State police said a goat is the unlikely victim of drug trafficking in Fayette County.

Police charged four Connellsville men Tuesday with stealing and killing a 4-year-old pygmy goat on Christmas Eve, so they could cut it up and trade its meat to a drug dealer -- in exchange for crack cocaine.

Police identified the suspects as Charles Smith, 48, and Charles Smith Jr., 20, James Walter Albright, 37, and Gilbert Wesley Fisch, 38.

Police said Albright dragged the animal from its pen and tied it to a shrub, where he and the younger Smith killed the animal by beating its head with either a hammer or a steel pipe.

Police said the men then took the goat to Smith's residence, where his father and Fisch skinned the animal and cut it up.

It was not immediately clear if the men have attorneys. The Associated Press could not locate home telephone numbers for the men.

Surely if you were going to steal something, you'd steal something more portable and easier to re-sell.

Also, does a drug dealer really give prevailing market rates for fresh goat flesh?

Well, to be fair it doesn't say whether or not the crack dealer actually accepted the goat meat as payment.

I'm guessing he didn't...
 
yea, the crack dealer probably owns a Taco Truck, where he could call goat meat beef, or something like that.

You would be amazed at the things people do for drugs, i think stealing a goat would be a last resort in their case, most likely... but crack makes people have last resorts every day.

Drugs are bad, mkay?

Slightly more on topic, it doesn't say anywhere that the dealer actually agreed to accept the goat meat in exchange for his offerings. So perhaps they were doing this all in vain.

Actually goat is delicious.

Popular in muslim dishes. A bit stringy and tough, but quite nice.

That just shows you what crack will do to you. I mean, a goat? What in their right mind made them think that a dealer would take goat meat for crack he could sell for money. I don't know how much the stuff goes for but i'm sure it's not cheap.

What in their right mind? Wait a minute, they're crack heads, they don't have a mind!
