GOG.com about to hit 6 million sold record. Free Game Offer

Is that game any good?

I mean, yeah, it is free, but I don't want to download something I won't be playing for more than 5 minutes even if it is free.

It certainly is a decent point and click adventure. I loved the "normal" version back in the day. (GoG has the directors cut, never played that one)

I remember:

-Beautiful hand drawn graphics
-Some challenging puzzles (not sure how difficult they are for an adult...)
-Some interesting characters and locations (France, Ireland, Spain...)
-Good animations
-Well written dialogues
-Hit and miss voice acting (some very cheesy accents)
-Memorable music
-I found the story interesting at the time. (I don't remember the details)

Definitely give it a try if you like adventure games.

edit:
-Apparently both the regular and directors cut are available on GoG
-Check out the antisocialfatman review for more info, he also explains the difference between both versions:

The Broken Sword games (well the first two at least) are damn sweet point and clickers, one of the few adventure games that could go toe to toe with Lucasarts.

I'm not a big fan of point & click, but if the game is good like you say, I'll give it a try.
Thanks.

Brilliant marketing from GoG, I wonder how much they made since they put up that silly timer.

How generous and awesome of them to give away Broken Sword

I don't understand what the problem is with this.

No, they are giving away BOTH versions, and you can choose which you want. They are both included in the download.

Stop saying untrue things, it makes you look like an idiot.

Also, prices on GOG are in dollars, not euros. Worldwide, with no idiotic region restrictions.

And GOG is the only shop that goes to the trouble of providing additional bonus materials for their games, if possible.

----------------------------------

All in all, GOG is the best game download shop on the internet, as far as customer care and experience is concerned. And no, I do not work for them :-). But I have bought there over 100 games so far, and had problems with only one so far - Interstate 76 (which is a shame I admit, it is awesome game).

I got it, and I don't have any option to play the original version. I tried downloading it twice. Only the DIrector's cut appears on my account, and there is no option to install the original.

The original version appeared at the bottom of the list for me, below the manual and all the other stuff. Roughly 270MB.

Man, the only game I bought on GOG so far was Psychonauts and I regret buying it there. It just got a sweet Steam update.

Sweet update? Isn't it just achievements and cloud saving, and tweaking the meat circus a little bit? Meh.

Yes and that's sweet. I like achievements.

Steam achievements are the most pointless thing ever.

What is the point of other achievements? They serve pretty much the same purpose as far as I'm concerned.

I like achievements. I don't play games for them, but they can sometimes steer you into pursuing certain goals you otherwise might not, for instance, getting through a game without dying.

This. It's like the badges that older japanese games had, only they stay after you turn the game off. I enjoyed the hell out of Halo ODST because of it, a game that I would trade in within a week otherwise. They can certainly be retarded but when done right, they can add quite a bit. I think I'd enjoy Psychonauts a lot more. I can totally see myself getting into some of the challenges there.

I don't feel strongly one way or the other about Achievements. if they're there, cool, if not whatever. i play the game and what I get I get, sometimes i'll do some of the stupid shit just for the hell of it if i don't feel like finishing a game to fast.
