Gun Runners’ Arsenal preview, part 4

Yip. We'll have a post up once it launches on more platforms.

Bergman calling it "cheap" is a bit disingenuous. Just because it's only a few dollars doesn't make it cheap if it's not off-set by content.

Yeah. I didn't say they weren't. What I said was that that it's kind of ludicrous to talk about them copying the mods from WMX when they're obvious mods. You know, because you said that they'd copied the weapon mods from WMX? It's nice to know that your reading comprehension is as deficient as your sense of proportion.

Except WMX is a piece of crap that unbalance all the weapons and level them all to the same niche: overpowered, snipers or shotguns type and low weigh.
There isn't a single diference between a Brush Gun WMX and a AMR WMX, all overpowered and sniper type.

Let's see what GRA will be, every weapon in FNV has advantages and drawbacks, every one, unlike 99% of weapons mods.
If GRA turn all of them in the same type as WMX did, then I could not agree more with you.

But we have to wait before jumping into conclusions.

Really? The sniper rifle had drawbacks?? Just kidding.
Well, there's always mods that can fix most of our personal issues with Fallout 3/NV.

I'll have to get this DLC and replay the game. :)

The DLCs have added their share of overpowered weapons: (...)cosmic knife spear, etc.

Actually, aside from Holorifle and maybe Automatic Rifle, Dead Money weapons were nerfed to oblivion. I understand that it could've been a good alternative for lower tier weapons, but hell, you are supposed to go to Sierra Madre at level 20+, that's already tier 5.

Originally I didn't think much of the GRA but after all the stuff I seen it worked it's charm and I'm sold. Tossing some money in the hat to help keep them making games is always a plus, and honestly I would rather see Bethesda hold the reins of Fallout than Atari or Activision who would probably roll out some more BoS PoS console only games for a quick buck.

Every sniper rifle have drawbacks, Gobbi can't be silenced, Chrstine's sniper isn't durable and the default sniper rifle is durable, light to carry around but lack a lot of punch when compared to the other two and other weapons, including a fully modded Hunting Rifle.

If you are talking about game mechanics, fine, we can discuss that - weapon spread is a terrible idea, guns don't have spread, shots are influenced by weather, recoil, distance or fighter position, wich Project Nevada and Nevada Skies proved possible to implement in the game - but mods can fix or alter the game to a certain extent.

Let's see what the official devs have to offer.

well, it appears that the "official devs" have nothing left to offer but ultralinear addon quests full of scripted combat punctuated by the ravings of a rambling psycho and gimmicky weapon packs to offer to console players who apparently don't want the game to be hard at all.

It amazes me that certain people will pidgeonhole all PC players as some sort of snobs for suggesting that the crap the console crowd will pay actual cash for is fucking hilarious and sad at the same time.

I wouldn't download the GRA as shown if it were a free mod on the nexus. Forget the 4 dollars or 8 euros or w/e the hell it costs.

It's not only poorly executed and uninspired but it appears to be gamebreaking in terms of the list of even more powerful weapons added that the NPCs will not be able to use against you.

They didn't even bother to work out the problem with the weapon lists and just added "GRA" to the names of items in a stupidly transparent and lazy workaround. I wouldn't accept that as "professional work" no matter who it was coming from.

I really don't get why anyone would buy this.

Sometimes I really wonder what the hell people expect. You really want them to fix the issue with DLC loadorder and patchfile and all, just so weapons don't need to be added with a damn GRA-prefix? Get real, nobody would do this for a weapons pack DLC and especially not if they aren't ultra pros with the engine.

People expect Bethesda's programming to not be shit.

But then again, so many years in we should know better.

Even Skyrim has problems with it's engine, which you could see in Oblivion already-- bad distance LOD, objects popping up out of nowhere, etc. I wonder why nobody expected Obsidian to fix this in FNV...

Bethesda had 5 years to work in Fallout 3 and Obsidian 1 year and half, working in a totally unknown enviroment.
I've never expected Obsidian to correct Gamebryo errors, they barely had time to develop the game itself.

This is not an excuse BTW, but what you are saying is asking Sebastian Vettel to replace Fernando Alonso and making the Ferrari the same outstanding car RBS have using the old Ferrari plataform.
You can see Obsidian doing good things with the engine only when working with Dead Money.

Altough I'm still disappointed that Divide storms don't have an effect on the player.

I think that has somthing to do with dead money and people getting mad about getting hurt and blah blah blah.

Weenies ruin everything.

Anyway, what I do not like is that the non-unique weapons are only available at traders. It's clear to me why this is the case, but it's still meh, as this makes them a kind of unique-weapon again. Will probably make me a mod for it and add some of the weapons to various late-game dudes.

That's one of the reasons I'm mad. The mod on the Nexus that adds the exact same non-unique versions of these weapons makes it so that NPCs carry them around so that you'll probably encounter them before you do their unique counterparts.
