Hardcore Mode earns Special Reward

This could be old news but The Escapist picked up on this little snatch of info from one of the leaked New Vegas screenshots. Apparently completeing the main quest in hardcore mode will give you a "Special Reward". The article suggests a new set of power armour or alien blaster, which doesn't sound all that far fetched.

I'm surprised the front page hasn't picked up on this, so maybe this is old news, but it's new to me.
 
From what I understand it's just an achievement but I would be ok with an item reward as well.
 
I don't think it's an in game reward, because obsidian has mentioned that when the game's over it's over, unless you get something on your next play through, which I'm not sure is possible. Is it? Seems to me that it's just an achievement.

It's quite possible. A lot of games give you better stuff on later play thoughs, or allow you to play the game again with all your stats from an old playthough and so on, though I doubt this would work with New Vegas if you can hit level 30 in one playthough anyway.

I still think it''d be very odd to mention if all you get is an achievement.

It was a given from the start that there would be an achievement for completeing the game in Hardcore mode. I think there's more to it.

Yes, a lot of games, but I doubt New Vegas will do this.
 
Going to play HC mode anyway, didn't know about any reward, I think the achievement is just for recognition that you completed the game in Hardcore mode and you get a reward for next game or something.
