Hotline Miami

I played it but didn't really enjoy it much. Not nearly as good as Retro City imo.

I'm really liking this game. It's basically "Drive: The Game" which is awesome.

All hail the ultra violence.

Currently stuck at the police station level and loving it. That's just a game you can load up when your friend's over, die, die die repeatedly but eventually make a plan together how to take all the baddies out (or rage if the last remaining one shoots you). Death is so spontaneous in this game, it's nice.

Also the music is awesome.

Agree 100% with Surf Solar. The game is just super-cool. I find I end up sinking a lot more time into it than I expect to when I fire it up.

The story is also kinda nice in a trippy way, I haven't really understood everything so far. I like when games don't spill out all informations about plot etc. at the player. Then again, I have to admit I don't play this game for the story, but it's still nice it has this thing going on.

Those masked murders thingy has something very eery going on. :)

It also got one of the coolest trailers ever:

Finished the game. An interesting ride, don't really understand the whole story (I feel like they could have included a few more details for more accurate interpretation) though.

The music is really good indeed. Also liked the color pattern - orange, blue, pink.

Ok, I will buy the game and check it out myself.

/Edit: This game is damn cool. Reminds me a bit of Manhunt, from gamestyle and the violence. Now I want to have a Manhunt 3 with Miami setting.

Ok, i'll play this game.

I really liked this game. One of those games I kept thinking about while not playing. Brilliant fast paced puzzle although some masks are way too overpowered and useful in most levels (would have been better if you had to switch, but hey, that's a pretty minor remark for a game like this!).

Brilliant music, brilliant graphics (colors was mentioned earlier). Still don't really know what to make of the story, but the player doesn't really need it to want to progress. It's just a bonus in my opinion.

It really got to me so 8/10. Had it not been so bug riddled I would have given it a 10. Some of the bugs made it very easy to finish off some of the bosses and some just made it crash. Badly. Maybe they've managed to fix them by now.

I hear there is a sequel coming up. Will definitely pick it up as well.

Add: alright you guys made me listen to the soundtrack and now I crave to play this game again. Thanks!

Yup, best indie of 2012, imo. Followed by FTL and Grimrock.

I didn't encountered any bug or crash.

Hoping for a map / story editor now, because I have cool ideas. :>

Btw. if one likes the game, then maybe the movie Drive is a good tip too. Fancy movie and Hotline: Miami has a very similar feeling (it was probably made with Drive in mind).

This was certainly the best indie I've played this year, but the soundtrack really deserves most of the accolades.

Very nostalgic. :)

The game might be fun if it was more stable than a Gamebyro game. The overly hard frustrating gameplay might've been more palatable if I both dug the retro thing (I don't) and I could actually play the game reliably.

I have no complaints about the music since I never heard it.

Actually, I found the gameplay to be pretty simple after I've got the hang of it. Some of the masks, especially, are highly overpowered (such as the door-killer or the throwing weapon kills) and make the game way too easy as well.

And about stability... like I said, I had not a single crash or bug, so that probably depends highly on the used system. I was running it on WinXP 32bit and later on Win7 64bit without any problems.

I don't see any connection to the movie Drive other than the retro 80's font used on the cover of the movie. And maybe one ultra violent murder, which has no resemblence to walking into houses with masks on and murdering 5 guys. If any movie reminds me of this game, its one of the last scenes in Taxi Driver.
