For my birthday, I got a PS3 and I logically chose to get Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition with it. I absolutely adored it, and poured at least 10- 20 hours into it in the first month (I was also in school at the time). In June of this year, I was my local Goodwill, and saw the original Fallout for three bucks, so I picked it up. I didn't like it too much at the time, as I was completely lost, but now I've been playing the dickens out of it, and realized the sheer opportunity to just do whatever I want in the game world wouldn't be possible if it held my hand, so I've really been enjoying it lately. However, I should also thank it for introducing me to '50s era music. I swear I could just sit and listen to GNR for hours. I also recently got the "Fallout Classic Collection" for twenty bucks, including Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics, but I won't move on from the first until I finish it.

Actually, I was never much interested in RPGs though FP shooters where always fun for me. I bought FO:3 because of the FPS aspect and got hooked from there.
After I started playing FO:3 I realized that it was my "crack" and played several times before getting the expansions. When I heard that FO:NV was coming out I pre ordered it, even though I knew that I would not have a lot of time to dedicate to playing... though I was able to squeeze in some play time.
I eventually found FO 1, tactics, and FO2 as a set and broke down and got it.... mainly because it was FO. While I was rather disappointed in certain aspects of it, I found that I was enjoying it in spite of the bugs and antiquated graphics. I liked it well enough in fact, that I downloaded some of the patches to enhance the game.
I still prefer the post FO 2 games. While it is still "just" a FPS, FO offers the customization that is lacking in so many other FPS type games. I like the fact that FO is not "cut and dry" and that the character can actually grow and become more than just a vanilla character.
There are times that I actually find myself missing a particular FO character that I created and finished the game with. That is part of the reason that I am really hoping that the FO
n-line comes to fruition... to allow me to grow a FO character far further than what can be expected in a "strait" game.

My friend "Frost" and I loved Wasteland and played it for hours on end, backing up our saves by copying the entire game folder since you couldn't save ... (every time you leave or enter an area, it would save over the one save game slot). Frost played the "official" sequel (Fountain of Dreams, I think it was called) and declared that it sucked: they took all the bad from Wasteland and none of the good (or so he said), so we thought that was the end of it.
Then one day he calls me up all excited and insists that I come visit him at his college one weekend: says he has a great new game but won't tell me what it is. When I get there, he's playing Fallout, and of course we're both hooked in deep again... creeping around every corner hoping not to jump at the appearance of a Slicerdicer or something, wondering if they'll have another Citadel with rocket-launching guards ... Fallout had its own surprises, of course, and was amazing.
So, that's my story.

Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
High school back in 97 or 98. I was reading an early sprite webcomic where an Ultima Online character went exploring through a tunnel and popped out of a cave right into the midst of a battle between the Brotherhood of Steel and some raiders.
The UO character had the bright idea of trying to attack the BoS paladins for their awesome looking "plate armor"... and well... it didn't end well for him.
I hadn't heard of Fallout before, so I decided to do some research. And that's when I decided to pick up the first game. It looked awesome, and had a meaty, nice looking game manual (I'm a sucker for story-oriented game manuals).
The rest is history.

When i was alot younger my cousin came over and brought the original. He described the setting and the deathclaws, his discription scared me to death but he left the game for me a year later I installed it in my old windows 95 pc and fell in love. I searched everywhere for fallout 2 then finally found it in the dual case with fallout 1 just before Fallout 3 came out (horrid game). I still play it today I have it loaded on a thumb drive so i can kill supermutants at the jail were i work.
My friend let me borrow Fallout 3 in 2009, which I took back to the military college with me. Being an Oblivion vet, I blitzed through it pretty quickly.
I remembered it as a good but not great game.
Then my birthday came on April 27th of this year, when I received Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 GOTY. I used FNV to retain my sanity while writing my 26 page paper on the Battle of Malaga. Somewhere back in 2004 (or is it 2005?), I decided to get yet another game for my Windows 98 for my birthday. After inspecting the shelves, the vendor pulled out a few games (which were certainly badass looking) and I chose Tactics. A Power-armored guy with a machine gun, radiation, post-apocalyptic Earth, blood... I grabbed the game and installed it right after a party.
I fell in love with Tactics and that's why to this day, I seem to be the only Fallout fan that actually loves the game. Me and my bro played through the game, expirementing with different tactics (even if they were bad) and difficulty levels, and proceeded level through level. However, I was never a good strategy gamer (although I really like them), so I did stop at a specific mission. Later on I had to move, so I gave my copy back to a friend.
Strangely enough, I ended back in my hometown at 2008. I visited my friend, and he gave me back the CD (he didn't like the game because he was confused as to what to do). I immediately reinstalled it, and started playing it. The whole summer I painted walls with blood, shot from pulse rifles and blew up grenades with epic ambient music in the background. I did complete it once, but I grabbed various walkthroughs to help me out exploit the game further.
Then I had to leave once more, but this time I grabbed my Tactics copy. I really loved it but I never guessed to see if there were any other games out there (if I did, I'd probably never be on this site). So on my mother's birthday, her having a party and me sitting their with my friends, I accidentally ended up at a gamer's website, which had announced Fallout 3 in just a week. I remembered the name Fallout, and was so hyped I almost jumped out of the window. I waited for it as long as I could.
My laptop, however, would not run the game, as it would constantly crash (a problem with the GPU). I was rather sad and spent weeks and months trying to understand how to solve this problem and how to run the game.
So in early 2009, I decided to find out about previous Fallout games (and previous Bethesda games - played Morrowind, but that's another story). I quickly staggered upon Fallout 1, and got it. I remember watching a video back some time and I really liked these cartoonish (the stones at the Vault 13 entrance) graphics, but was not sure whether I should install it or not. I did, don't worry.
Playing through the game was very enjoyable, not so much because of a roleplaying experience but because I thought it would provide some backstory for me before I'd play Fallout 3 (ooh, how wrong I was) and also because killing everyone was lots of fun. I played Fallout 2, but stopped. You know, you can't play a similarly looking game for a long time.
I did, however, restart my Fallout 2 adventure some months (or possibly weeks) later, and finished it with an epic smile on my face. I quickly hit up PoS, but it turned out to be for consoles, so my search ended there. Ever since then, I wanted to play Fallout 3.
I played Fallout 3 only in late December 2010, when New Vegas was already out. I played it, and while I felt so epic (2 years of waiting) for some time, it started to get boring and more boring. I met the Brotherhood and hoped it would bring in some kind of fun - it did, but my waiting was suddenly so uninteresting and failed. I couldn't wait to finish the game and start playing New Vegas.
That's my story. Perhaps the only one out there, right?

I kid, I kid. My story is pretty similar. Got some money as a birthday gift in '01, wanted to get some games. Got taken to some crappy little game store and they had the double case with both fallout 1 and 2. Fuck that shit, my 13 year old self said, I wanted the battlemech game. It was 3d, my video card was not, and I reluctantly got fallout instead. I played it that night and spontaneously grew a beard while my balls dropped and dick grew to three feet long. I've played plenty of games where you get to be the badass, but I had never played a game where I got to CHOOSE to be the badass. Fallout was my passage into manliness and awesomeness. If it wasn't for fallout I'd probably be chilling out with some kind of japanese puppy simulation right now.
Yeah. I mean, 2004, Far Cry, Half-Life 2, Counter Strike... All of my classmates played the former like damn, and then switched to CS from 1.6. You know, with their super fast desktop machines, with Windows XP...
But don't worry, I still think Tactics is pretty graphically advanced. You know, shooting a laser in the dark actually glows (awesome!), the explosions are pretty good-looking too (I was dissapointed at Fallout 1 explosions, so I've never tried a thrower type of character

Do it. Play evil, then play with intelligence lower than 4, then play as a woman. You will play a completely different game each time for both 1 and 2. THAT'S how you win at game development.

Well let's see... it was back in about 2000 or 2001 when I first heard of Fallout because of my Uncle playing 2. He had just got XP (i think) and he had a thing for RPG's. Although I didn't really understand, I did like the part where he was taking groin shots and sneaking around. Nevertheless, at 7 years old my mom wouldn't let me have it, so I was pissed. Time passed, I forgot about Fallout for ten years, and then I discovered Fallout 3. Definetley not the best of games, but not the worst. (That and the fact that my graphics card was super weak...) Then I played Fallout 2, liked the plot, and now I'm getting New Vegas for Christmas, along with a sleek new PS3.
I was playing that silly game, Gender Wars (http://www.mobygames.com/game/gender-wars). It's set in a dystopian future where Women fight Men in armoured suits for sperm (for fertilisation) and human embryos (for fertilising). Silly concept but it was pretty good fun.
Point is, I was looking on the internet for similar games and I found Fallout. This would have been shortly before Fallout was released as I distinctly remember ordering it from 'Special Reserve'. Who remembers that magazine? Blast from the past!

couple of years ago i was about to buy a game at one of the local store, i remember i asked for starcraft 1, but the game i received was f1 instead ... never regretted it
