How did you discover Fallout ?

If you did not discover Fallout off a bootleg disc in 1998 you are not cool.

Did you know you can make Jet at home?

You start by getting a strong laxative...
What are my chances of addiction??

I remember when I was a kid (I was 12/13 at the time) and I had an older friend that had a PC (because I didn't), he was playing games like Full Throttle, Fallout, Fantasmagoria (I even remember the murder cutscenes to this day), King Quest (with the big floppy disc, if I remember correctly it was a game in black and orange), just writing this brings nostalgia ...

I poop at least once a day, so pretty high.

I don't know your diet, but if you can compete with brahmin shit you're a healthy person ... Do you personally use Jet in FO2? (I guess against Frank it's ok, but even with the cure I tend to not use any) It would be nice if any new Fallout (turn-based/isometric ones) use more varied chems like in NV (like the Steady for example that increase your accuracy, would be useful early/mid-game) or even Expired Stimpak like in JSawyer Edition.

Winners don't do drugs.

Agreed. Nevada and Olympus have some fun ones, Sonora probably too. I wonder if @hexer has plans for some new ones in Yesterday (I don't remember reading about any in Van Buren design docs).

I spent years working on mods (Mutants Rising rules!), this game somehow impacted my life. I meet some incredible people in this very community (SNorth springs to mind. https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/2465319.Stephen_A_North )
What did you do on Mutants Rising?

I'm still waiting for Mutants Rising to be released, get to to it guys.
All that is left is some scripting. The team has asked for help here. Do you know anyone who can help?

Fun fact, the original plot for Mutants Rising had to radically change after it was stolen by a certain development house. The story was nearly identical to an official story. We never found the leak, but suspected a plant on the team. No I don't have any proof, those original design documents will be long gone. I'll just say that originally you started in a prison and escaped after it was attacked. We shifted the location to a town but kept an attack as a starting off the main plot.
That's really interesting! In some of the later Elder Scroll games the protagonist is actually a former convict so if Bethesda had stolen that idea it would actually make sense, it would be Elder Scrolls with guns. However it would be really low if Black Isle stole that idea from you...

A friend from school told me about Fallout 1 and let me borrow their disk, did the full install. Same friend let me borrow Fallout 2 and I spent a few years playing both games. That's how I got introduced to the first two games, I think they might have lent me Tactics as well, but I can't recall fully.

I always liked the Radioactive symbol and was interested in radiation. Dad saw the game at Walmart. Fallout, Figured I would like it. We played it so much, he was right.

I remember learning about if first when Fallout 4's trailer came out. I decided to look up the Fallout games, saw new Vegas, and decided to play that because - well it's Vegas, that has to be fun right? Until then my favorite game of all time was Skyrim, so I was blown away by everything New Vegas did. From there I made my way through the numbered Fallout games.

Same story here. Except I completed FO1 a couple of times but crashes prevented me from going beyond Broken Hills in FO2.

I had Fallout2 on disc 20 odd years ago it had glitches bugs and exploits which was good for a laugh. I replayed it patched up. Fallout1 I only downloaded a couple of years ago. I also downloaded Fallout2 from GOG so I can install a mod, play it then uninstall, then reinstall then use another mod / conversion. In a sale on steam or GOG the games are dirt cheap. So I reckon that would solve crashes.

Don't worry, these issues were spoiling my fun a long time ago, but I've recently completed the game using the Steam version + the RPU. Thank you :)

I actually learned of Fallout through the Wasteland games. I had been playing through the Wasteland trilogy and around that time from researching them, I learned that the original Fallout was designed as a spiritual successor to those games at first. Out of curiosity, I purchased Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics and was immediately hooked. I picked up New Vegas later on, and still have yet to play the Bethesda titles, which I'll play out of curiosity. All I can really say is, the original Fallout games are great, and I'm quite glad I found the series through the older games and not the newer ones.

And what did you think? Going from Skyrim -> New Vegas -> Fallout 1 & 2 is a huge step.

I loved and still love Fallout 1's story up until the introduction of the super mutant army. Don't misunderstand me, it's good, I it just felt a lot more... something else. I remember feeling some kind of whiplash going from exploring this depressing desert, walking around what would become the NCR and meeting character I had only heard about from The Storyteller - only to then start playing what felt like an isometric DOOM game where I was kicking ass and taking names in a suit of power armor. It was fun, just not the same kind of fun I had in places like Junktown.

Fallout 2 felt like I was playing New Vegas for the first time all over again. It felt strange meeting characters like Cassidy and Marcus and New Reno was hands down my favorite location to explore and learn more about. It had moments where it tried to hard to be funny but besides that it felt better in just about every way!

I'll admit I did had to refer to guides every once and a while in case I was having trouble with a quest - but besides that I was fully immersed into Fallout 2's world... when it wasn't trying to be funny.

I think I have more of a tolerance for older games now. I'm now working on playing through Deus Ex since it's another older game I've heard a lot of good things about and I got around to playing the first Half-Life. Granted the only other isometric RPG I'm willing to touch besides the Fallout games is Pathfinder: Kingmaker, (and I guess the civilization games).

I got a gift from a friend and it was new Vegas on ps3, after 20 genocide runs I found the game quite enjoyable and actually played the story, then I heard of 1 and 2 and played those, downloaded tactics but never got around. Then fallout 4 came out and we all know how that turned out. But Vegas is the one that started it all. Ooohhh playing it on my crappy 2 gb ram pc with 1 gb graphics with a 22 gb hdd but man was it great. Its awesome being away from the Internet.
