How do I install mods for Fallout 1?

Ok so I recently brought Fallout 1 and (seeing that it is the first old timey RPG I have played) want a modded character which will make it easy for me to figure out game mechanics etc. and so I want to install this Fallout Super Character mod by Odin however there are no instructions as to how I can do this and I havnt been able to find any posts about this matter with a solution anywhere else. So if anyone can inform me as to where I have to extract the files the help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Have you considered reading the game manual? That's the best way how to figure out game mechanics.

Anyway:
1. Navigate to your Fallout installation directory
2. create a new folder here, rename it to "Premade" (e.g. C:\Games\Fallout\Data\Premade)
3. place downloaded *.gcd file here

I just attempted to do that however nothing seems to have happened, I should have asked this first but is it possible that you cant install mods for the Steam version which is the one I brought (to be particular I brought the collection)

That's a problem with the patch000.dat file, it overrides anything in the data folder where the fallout2.exe is located. Delete it and see if something happens.
