How will the BoS be involved in FO3?

uziel

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
A few notes we should make about the BoS before we start discussion:
1) In FO2 they've been weakened due to isolation.
2) FO tactics happened
3) Betheldsa(SP) may or may not (Hopefully, Muhammad's soul, take the latter) involve PoS for BoS.
4) The BoS has the Vertibird plans
5) They're involved with NCR (They helped Tandi's father found it)

I think on one particular quest you should get attacked and it goes to a Cutscene with you in a firefight and a Vertibird lands filled with BoS soldiers and that's how you become involved with them.

Actually I`m not shure about the timing of FOT .. How do we know if it is before the Vault13-Water chip problem or after the Enclave?

FOT is set between FO 1&2 and IIRC even the bible says it was in an alternate, alternate timeline so I think we can safely ignore the FOT storyline.

As for the Brotherhood in FO3, given the mistreatment they've received over the years, I think it's time to kill them off entirely.

Whether that's part of the plot or every so often you find a few old men with dilapidated suits of power armour, talking about the good ole days of the Brotherhood, though everyone else treats them like an elderly parent with alzheimers.

Perhaps you could find the ruins of a bunker where there's the rusty shell of a half completed vertibird?

I don't like the idea of the BoS just fading away...

At least give them one final blaze of glory before they fall! "It's better to burn out than to fade away!"

There are things we must not forget.
In FOT the BOS found the vault 0( with a lot of new stuff in it). And they have expanded.

And that was the time when a" new BOS"was created ( The 1 in FOT).
The old 1 got weakened, the new 1 got stronger.

The BOS in FOT recruited Mutants,.....and some how created a new state( like NCR).

I would say it is hard to let some thing like that just fade away.

But there is a question, did the BOD from FOT every got back to the west coast. And if it did when? Between 1&2, or after.

Or was the BOS weakened in a great war between the BOS from FO1 and FOT?

Like i said it is hard to just let it fade away.

2) FO tactics happened

No, no it didn't

The concept of Vault 0 within the framework set by Fallout 2, that of the Vault experiments, is contradictory. As Fallout 2 supersedes Tactics in canon, Tactics never happened

I doubt if they will

Uhhh...yeah. I'd rather have BoS back on the lowndown, the last guardians of knowledge and technology, not a bunch of gunho fools or sneaky spies in metal armor

This can't be that Tactics never happened. Do u remember, what weapon u found in FO2-BOS outpost? The EMP guns, which were created by the BOS in FOT. So how does this fit in.

The pulse rifle and pistol were developed before the war by the Yuma Flats consortium, even the FOT description says this.

The YK42B is an electromagnetic pulse weapon that was developed by the Yuma Flats Energy Consortium.

As with the Brotherhood tech in the rpgs, that says manufactured by the Brotherhood, it's more likely they've just reversed engineered the weapons from their stores/scavenging or built from scratch using spare parts/recovered diagrams etc. Just because they manufacture it doesn't mean they designed it, even in their halcion days of Fallout they had just reverse engineered a laser pistol.

The prototype version in FOT (made by the Reavers not the BOS) actually says it's a prototype for a modified pulse rifle, not for a pulse rifle full stop. So presumably the pulse rifle in the alternate alternate universe of FOT had been adapted to make it more effective against the robots.

Yess.... yeeeess... find the blueprints of the vertibirds so you can make a miniature vertibird and use it as a lawnmover weapon. Like they did in the movie "Braindead"..... yesss! YEEESS!!!! *rubs his hoofs together*

I am really, really liking the idea of Brotherhood getting one last blast before they disappeare....a big dramatic battle, like something legendary.... and totaly deadly.

Im hoping that Fallout 3 will be as big as Morowind and Oblivion - so a story line in which the player would find remnants of brotherhood and really work his ass of to unite for that final battle, (final for them), would be possible as a big side quest. One of the many really.

Mind you...i really don't have a strong reason for them to disappear other that they were common in first two games.

I was actually hoping they could be expanded a little but only if it was done in a right way.

It seems to me that most people got fed up with them through
F Tictacs which i didn't even touch. Am i right?

I think that the brotherhood should be taken out by some other high-techies...

In the brotherhood style they will just stay in their holes untill they need to pull some people in for breeding and extending their population and lives. Whern they find out they dont have the best tech they will also go after that as well.

In fallout 3 the brotherhood should be completely taken out, with reminents of brotherhood soldiers here and there...

And in classic fallout 1 humor, the hero could run into a group of old and decrepit Brotherhood Knights and lead them in the awe of a final battle, where the Knights start attacking trees and die off by the second round becuase of exuastion. (spelling sucks...)

The old Brotherhood should not just fade away.

They should go down in a blaze of glory OR some upstart ruler sets down rules that all BoS must have at least 2 - 3 children in their lives and the BoS lives on.

Or the BOS finally turns into the new threat to fight in the wastelands due an corrupt leader who interacts with a crazy religeous freakout group...maybe lead by the Rat dude from Gecko?

That would be too freaky....

I dont want them as enemies...its a cheap tactic anyway.

Let them have their last stand man.

Come on, how many of you harbor intention to wipe out the BoS ?

If not for I hankering for the mouth watering weapons and armor they had, i would have torn their bunker apart.

I am with the BOS should fade away as a group of into high tech conservation, isolationist to the point of almost being monks.

This way they might still pop up from time to time, but would not have a major plot role.

In FO1 they are pretty isolationist and reluctant to get involved vs the mutants.

IF you accept FOT as coming between FO1 and FO2 if at all (see Kharn's statement that FOT didn't happen) than the BOS is divided with a harder core being exiled and lost.

FO2- the BOS is in decline and can't stand against the Enclave.

If F03 is a generation past F02 than the BOS shouldn't even be around.

Again how could it be that the FOT did not happened? I read this, and like so comments on it.
This is the history of the BOS
It didn't happen to those that haven't played it at all. And to those that have played, it was a bad dream that's luckily easily forgotten.

As an aside note how do you guys know that FO3 will be taking place after F02, or even Fallout? I myself would like it set in a timeline before Fallout, maybe just a few decades after the bombs fell. In that way there'll be only a handful of settlements around giving their best to fight off the desperate attacks of semi-organized raiding nomad groups. The Brotherhood would just be an idea then , nothing more but a group of weary old trepidating military base survivors still awed by the appalling desolation encountered during their exodus...
