Unity. was based upon some good shit, too bad they weren't able to fully put in all the good references around it like I think they had planned, especially with the obvious artwork surrounding them, and perhaps they took out the eye + pyramid from the context menu because the menu WAS not only cumbersome, but it didn't seem to suit the rest of the game. Just the cultists. It is probably easiest to see how much influence was still left by how the Children acted over time in Fallout - this and Tim's planned darker plan of the Vaults for Fallout 2 could have tied in nicely for the conspiracy theory flavor often held around nuclear science fiction. If Fallout was supposed to be steeped in conspiracy, there just wasn't enough to form a full shadowed backstory, I think they went for the dark irony approach instead, which worked a lot better. Fallout 2 had a bit of conspiracy, but it was a bit less 50's Illuminati flavor and more X-Files.

Masonic conspiracies in Fallout? I like the idea, and it might work in conjunction with the established canon. I don't think conspirators should appear in the game, but rather be hinted upon as a shadow that looms over the wasteland even now, decades after the war. They could serve as a thread which connects storylines of all games without being bound to them directly. The dark irony aspect could be easily incorporated into such world. The alleged goal of the Illuminati is to create a new, "better" world, ruled by one government which ensures global order and stability - a vision in stark contrast with the chaotic state of the post-apocalyptic Earth. If we go with the premise that the nuclear holocaust and the events that followed it are an unfortunate and unexpected consequence of the sinister plan for world domination set in motion by the conspirators, and somehow incorporate that into the existing canon, it would practically scream irony, seeing as agenda of the Master and his Children and later the Enclave were in essence the same as Illuminati goals, only with a dark, apocalyptic twist.Roshambo said:
