I Have a Dream...

TheWesDude

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
I have a Dream.

this dream is grand and amazing.

ok fuck it i have 3 dreams. fuckin sue me.

Dream A:

my most powerful dream is of a game. this game is large. this game is huge. this game has a simplistic interface. this game has an immersive storyline. this game has the easy ability for people to provide mods. this game will have LOGICAL combat. this game will have LOGICAL charecters and advancement. this game will have shitty graphics compared to oblivion/HL2. and it will be just fine because the charecters and storyline and the gameplay will be a fucking 20 on a 0-10 scale. this game will be released on a single DVD and not 10 fucking CDs. this game will take 3-4 years to make. only 1 of that will be spent on the engine. the rest will be for the UI, game features, and story. there will be 2-3 artists who do inventive monsters. they may not be incredibly polished but there will be a variety. this game will take WEEKS to finish because you will be so involved in whats happening you forget that you are playing a game and should be sleeping, and you forgot the original over-arcing plot. there will be MULTIPLE ways to finish each quest. there will be MULTIPLE charecter types. there will not be specifically classes but more skill-based. there will be AWESOME AI that acts like a real player.

that is my first dream.

Dream B:

I have a second dream. not as powerful as the first but still a powerful dream. it will be a game with relatively the same units on all sides. there will be only slight differences. there will only be 1-2 resources required for building buildings and units. 3 is too many. there will be easy map-making tools. it will support a maximum of 8 players on a map and have built in multiplayer. the maps you can make will be HUGE. it will have worthwhile defensive units. it will have worthwhile defensive emplacements. the use of a hero/avatar is acceptable but not required. the graphics will be impressive. the AI will be easily adjustable with multiple options for like economic/agressive/defensive/advance options. it will have the option to micro-manage cities/buildings for increased effeciency with maybe an optimal settings for specific units or else just a normal setting for those who do not like to micro-manage. these settings will change based upon how many of the same you make while micro-managing so that you cant just " set it and forget it " because thats not micro-management. it will have cool units. you will be able to see the missles units shoot. you will be able to see the lazers units shoot. you will be able to see the bullets people shoot.

I have another Dream.

This is a simple dream. this is a very non-complicated dream. this dream consists of ROTT 2.

/discuss.

Martin Luther King, Jr. also had a dream. What did he do?

He relentlessly busted his ass day in day out, got his message through to the world, and got a Nobel Peace Prize.

If those things you've mentioned in your post are truly your dreams, then hit the books and make them so.

Because no one is going to do this for you, and you may never in your entire life, play that game that your dreaming of.

Furthermore... STFU!!!

Let us not forget: he was assassinated for his trouble.

In any case, does this thread really have a point? Does it deserve to live on? Or shall we shove it's quivering girth into the Vats?

hrm? yes it has a point.

its what i want for a RPG, RTS, and FPS for a game...

practically every game gets something wrong and if they did the above it would be pretty hard to screw it up.

admittedly if you dont read it of course you would think there wasnt a point. but if you are talking about Losts post then i guess that really doesnt have a point but the original post does have a point.

What are LOGICAL characters? Spock-like? And what is LOGICAL combat? No idea what you mean.

Why should you care how long a game takes to make, how much of that time is spent on the engine, or how many artists work on it?

Is it really that painful to insert multiple CDs? It's the least common denominator, there are many people without DVD drives still.

So let me get this straight, you want shitty graphics in dream A, but you want impressive graphics in dream B, but dream B has simple buildings that are the same on each side. Okfine.

LOGICAL might be an acronym used to represent his stat system, like SPECIAL. Something like:

Luck.
Origami.
Gullibility.
Intelligence.
Charisma.
Agility.
LOL!(sense of humor)

My point is that if you really want something, buy it if it exists, or make it yourself.

The point of your post is that "I want this, and this is why."

Coincidentally, we've all seen posts like this a rediculous amount of times, and flames should be expected.

logical charecters is that you dont find a town mayor in the middle of nowhere without a damn good reason.

the logical combat is what is missing from lots of RPGs like morrowind and D2 and such.

just because you dont spend 3-4 years on just graphics doesnt mean they will be shitty. its possible to do good graphics in a short period of time. it just takes a long time to do great graphics.

Is it really that painful to insert multiple CDs? It's the least common denominator, there are many people without DVD drives still.
-----------------

considering last time i went to compusa i saw a DVD drive for 30$ this is not a very valid argument. plus since the graphics will be " shitty " i guess idiots wont be playing it and smart people would realize that its actually worth it to buy one.

----------------
but you want impressive graphics in dream B, but dream B has simple buildings that are the same on each side.
----------------

actually the graphics in B can be mediocre or slightly good, but they need to be good in the 3rd one as its a FPS.

So go to school, become a programmer, make lots of friends and recrute them to help you make the game. Sounds simple enough to me. Nuff said.
