I love the fact that Sulik never...

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
finds his sister

I know that he was meant to but it's been cut and unofficially patched, but the fact that you never come across her in the finished game is very fitting to the setting.

She vanished without a trace, possibly an unremarkable slave who died during a trek across the wasteland somewhere, maybe made a run for it and got shot and was eaten by rats in some basement or wandered into an irradiated zone and fell ill and died in the middle of nowhere.

Fallout 1's wasteland felt like a dark unknown where anything could happen for one to disappear.

That is all.

Thematically it does fit, but from a video game standpoint it's dumb. Sulik is the first companion, that is obviously his important, personal quest and your RPG sense is just telling you that there is something missing here. It's jarring.

It would be horrifying and brutal if the quest never concludes properly because it turns out his sister is long dead or worse, but this way it's just poorly cut content and nothing more.

Y'know, it would be much better IF her fate is concluded, and it wouldn't matter if the conclusion is positive or not. The way it was now, without RP and stuff, one could immediately notice it's cut content. If her fate is clear, though... if she's still alive and can be rescued, good. If she's actually out of reach and finding her broke Sulik in a way, even better. In fact, I think this is one of those opportunity where the devs can put on a timed quest; similar to how we've got one month to find Karl or Modoc will go to war with the Slags. In case of Sulik's sister, I'm thinking something along the lines of a time limit that's triggered the moment the Chosen One finds a critical information of her whereabouts, probably from Metzger or something.

It is not a plot-line that lead to a fate open to interpretation. It is just a plotline that was never finished because of lack of time.
Cannot really say that the latter deserves praise.

(and the mod version feels a bit rushed)

I realize all this. I know why it is the way it is and I know it's a problem for the general game perspective. Still, I like the fact that there is no resolution.

I like that she was never found too.

Just....it's a part of their backstory that you never get a lead on.
