Id Software?

Honest opinions on them? I think they're amazing these days. Made my favorite games of all time but also made some bad ones too. I'm kinda glad in some way Zenimax acquired them. Got them to stop fucking around and making bad games no one wants to play. In any regards I'm glad they're doing well again. What do you guys think?

heard they acquire the control of multiplayer again, after the disastrous beta and release.

they also made the right choice of the design of priority of gameplay and story. The original doom which story could basically deduced like tetris got some lore which on par with Dark souls method of narration. it was there, but its not what expected from the games. they made best optimized engine, looks great, and most importantly got the most highest FoV so far

maybe, it was the result of the consulting to the BGS?

Very likely. And as terrible as they are they actually gave some good advice and consultance to Id software on making a good game.

I've always been a huge fan of id. Massive Quake and Doom fan, and many of my favourite games are based on their engines.
After some weak games they apparently got their shit together with Doom, so I'm quite excited to see what they'll be doing with Quake (not too keen on Champions, though).

Why no keen on champions?

It appears to be based on "heroes" and different powers and roles, just not my cup of tea.
It looks cool and all and I'm really excited that what's basically one of my favourite video game series of all time is not dead, but this whole DOTA/hero/whatever kind of team-based playstyle never really did it for me. It was ok in Tribes: Ascend, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for in a Quake game. Still, i'm gonna keep an eye on it, it's not like we know much yet.
And I certainly like that it's gonna be PC-exclusive and not watered down for gamepad-playability.

worse, it'll just like Overwatch (btw overwatch is good on its own). but, does tribes were exactly fast paced as quake? i mean, in proper hand it could be good as long as it is a twitch shooter.

Seriously, half the time I don't understand the meaning of your posts. But the good thing is that I read them in a hilariously stereotypical russian accent in my head, so they're at least amusing.
Anyway, Tribes was very fast paced in its own way, but its speed was very different from Quake's (more focus on trajectory-based weapons, skiing, jetpacks, extreme speed on straights over vast, open maps).
So far we know basically nothing about Quake Champions. It might turn out good, and I'll certainly keep an eye on it (I expect a lot more infos at QuakeCon [wow, a QuakeCon with infos on a new Quake game. It's been a while]), but for now I remain neutral.

But is it really ID Software anymore? None of the original founders remain. I still find how Bethesda lost John Carmack to be incredibly stupid and near sighted.

to be fair, he never interested in developing video game anyway. pushing the technology boundary is what he does, true 3d engine back in Doom orginal then quake. then , he start to do innovation such better rendering system known as physical based rendering in doom 3 and the experimental VR with ski google in 2012. zenimax doesnt bless him, so yeah, he got out.

Honestly? I don't care about the names involved if the product is still good. They didn't do well in the past ten years, so I don't give a shit if all the founders are gone. Doom 3 and Rage felt a lot less like id Software games than Doom 4 now. And let's be honest, Carmack's focus on MegaTexture just didn't work out. id Tech 6 is looking better than ever, and I think it's in no small part thanks to Tiago Sousa coming in from Crytek, getting them back on track with dynamic lighting.
