Well, if people just randomly blow up, I would suspect the guy holding the detonator has something to do with it.

I agree. But what if you hide and nobody sees you? You still get negative reputation. Anyway, if they knew you blew up those people, they'd attacked you (what's the difference between this and shooting that person/people with a pistol). In real life, you'd make sure nobody sees you holding the detonator anyway.

who's to say you'll lose reputation if nobody sees you. he was completely out in the open, after all. not saying I'm counting on it working that way, but it's a possibility.

Hmm, I really doubt that you won't lose that reputation if you were hidden. After all, if they knew you killed those people, they'd attacked you.

I see only one case in which this is rightly done:

You lose reputation only if people see you using the detonator. In that case, they intentionally don't attack you, because they aren't sure if you were the murderer (maybe you were just playing with that remote, or something - it's not like beating someone to death, or shooting him).

I highly doubt that this case is true in that situation.

I was waiting for Chris to say "Hurry up and bring your jukebox money!"

I SWEAR TO GOD IF I HEAR THE WORD "RAT PACK" ONE MORE TIME---

Also, why are the gambling games taking up half of the previews? No one says "Hey man you gotta play Fallout! You can gamble and shit!"

How will the casinos disarm you when you enter with T-51B?
they will nicely ask you to give them your weapons ?

Even a person in Power armor can be killed. And if you dont want to piss of everyone in a town you better do what they say. So I dont see any problem here.

Except of course Vegas will be again a game for the Munchkin player ~ like Fallout 3 where your character is pretty much good in everything and thus never had to fear ANY enemy of the wasteland. Regarldes how many you had to fight.

While the video isn't overall thrilling - very empty looking dark streets, NPC voiceovers still are quite lackluster, and I could care very little about the gambling games - I find a lot of the details being add very much being improvements from Fallout 3. Varying currencies each with different conversion rates sounds cool. The new additions to weapons - grenade launcher, C4, etc. - sound neat as well and I do like the reverse stealing to kill someone. I also like the Reputation system they have, albeit it does look like it will be godlike and discover each and every foul move you make.

What I'm majorly curious about is how this game is going to handle areas - is it one large map, or is it several large areas connected together by a world map, ala Fallout 1 and 2 style? I only ask this because the latter would seem a ton more interesting and also give a ton more opportunities mod-wise provided they make this GECK compatible.

killing someone with steal skill isn't new, it's been possible since the first game ;)

the map will be handled the same way as Fallout 3 - one big area, with fast travel.

oh, and it will come with the GECK tool.

Awesome with the GECK, sad that it's one big map.... speaking of which, I never realized Las Vegas was that close to the Hoover Dam O_o

And I never knew you could do that in Fallout 1 and 2 XD I never tried. Mostly I just carried C4 just in case I ran into a wall that needed surgery.

Looking over a few interviews and whatnot, I think the only thing I'd be worried about is if plot and character personalities are up to par. While I still think Fallout 3 wasn't as horrible as people make it out to be, those area are admittingly lacking. With the addition of the "Hardcore" mode and some of what's revealed here my original complaints about Fallout 3 are dissolved. Still not perfect but whatever. I think the only thing I'll ever considered perfect-wise will be Quest for Glory 1 and 4 when it comes to skill-based games XD

Also, he got negative reputation for "anonymously" blowing those people - WTF!?!?!? I mean, how the fuck can he get that reputation? It seems like nobody has passed his Intelligence check here. Because if someone did, he would go like:
(Intelligence) So, if your character kills stealthly people, nobody will know he killed them? And nobody will hate his for that?

Well, he was "detected" when he planted the C4. Maybe it's because of that? And IF it's because of that shouldn't the steal attempt fail like in FO3? Maybe they tweaked the demo just to show off the feature?

there is a new Interview with a Senior Designer:
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2010-fallout-new/700802

i love what say's, i love much of the details shown in many of the trailers but over all is it just me or the game itself feels wrong ?

porbably its just because its work in progress or maybe it was the same in FO3 and i forgot but all fighting scenes looks un natural to me, like the AI is just running around, no?

thats cause the AI is just runing around. The AI in F3 was not worth a dime and its probalby the same with Vegs.

If you steal stuff, you loose karma, not reputation. As far as I understand so far, karma is rather useless. It's there and you can see it, but it doesn't have much influence on anything. Reputation is what really matters.

About loosing reputation, if you kill someone lonely in the desert... Well, not only New Vegas (might) have problems with it. Many games, which track your reputation, have this problem and it's rather hard to "fix", if you don't go additional ways (like 'see' checks or stuff like that). I personally don't see a big problem here.

Nightkin looks a LOT better now. I was curious on if they changed their models too to match the Fallout 1/2 strappedmouth baddied.

This interview makes me even less cautious about the game. I was thinking modable weapons existed, but now it's confirmed so that owns. What also sounds great is apparently we now can't take on a fully armored Brotherhood member with a tiny pistol. Looks like they'll be putting weapons checks in to see if you're actually going to be effective or not.

At this point I can say I'll be much happier with this game than I was with Fallout 3 just from a gameplay standpoint. The area I think they're most likely to screw up still is NPC creation to some degree. What he says is great and all, what with developing companions to the point where they have reasons for existing, joining, leaving, etc but it may not be done that well. And if the companions aren't done as well, I doubt the rest of the NPCs will be. I can also see them screwing up like Bethesda did in Fallout 3 and be placing 2 people and a shack in the middle of nowhere and call it a "settlement". Yeah, I'd like to see actual villages outside the land of glowing money-eating slot machines.

Actually, if there's one thing I don't worry about in an Obsidian game it's memorable characters. They've always been good in this regard.

that's very true. it seems like they always have characters and writing down, it's just that they get rushed or have a shoddy engine or something and it cripples the game until a fanpatch comes. since new vegas is on gamebryo that shouldn't be an issue and since the bethesda hype machine is on this one i think it's going to be the game that finally gets obsidian some serious recognition.

That or since they're not Bethesda, it'll get the flak that Fallout 3 should've gotten.

After all, this is Obsidian, they make buggy, terrible games with things like thinking and talking instead of nuclear shooty-shooty bang-bang.

they usually make a squeal out of someone else game and unless we as look at difrent games this one is still a shooty-shooty bang-bang

Do you think Cesar Legion`s encampments will have gladiator fights? They are slavers, I think they`d definitely make some people fight to death just for shit and giggles. And also it could be another way to gamble and win/loose money.
