Silly little topic but I really could do with something light hearted.
To all of you science fiction and/or fantasy fans, if the possibility was given to you to immigrate to one of the universes you have seen in movies or video games, or have read about in comic books or books and take up residence there, which universe would you like to live in and possibly what kind of job or career would you like to pursue there if possible.
I have put up a couple of universes from sci fi shows, movies, and games that I like as well as some of the fantasy universes I know off (I have included various version of the same universe but at a different moment of its history).
You are of course free to add/mention one I have not added as I probably only know the surface of all the imagined universes in various media.
I would probably go for the Wing Commander universe. I know there is a war going on between humanity and the Kilrathi but it is not everywhere at same time and there are places to move to and various opportunities for any man or woman ready and willing to take on the chance to become a self made person.
I would love to be a Privateer but I would be happy if I could serve on board a commercial transport and see various distant star systems, nebulas and the unique celestial bodies and phenomenon of the universe.
(and there is fortunately no time travel or dimensional travel that could screw up the timeline or reality)
Second choice would be the Star Trek universe (original) which also offers many opportunities for a regular person such as me to visit distant star systems and behold the wonders of the universe, and with a replicator at your side you don't have to worry about the basics and the essentials, allowing a person to focus more on trying to reach what they want to accomplish (or just loose yourself on the holodeck)
Of course there are a lot more unpleasant and downright hostile species in this universe that could screw up your day; Klingons and Romulans amongst others in the period of the Classic Series, and later on Cardassians, the Dominion, and of course the dreaded Borg Collective which does not kill you but rather makes you an extension of itself.
And then there are of course pesky God like aliens who want to put humanity on trial, time travel, and dimensional travel that could turn a relative pleasant place into a hellhole in which we are all slaves in just one change.
Known Space might also be nice as it also has interstellar travel including faster-than-light as well as such great discoveries such as boosterspice which can extend your life indefinitely.
There are aggressive aliens but outside the Kzinti (and perhaps the Pak Protectors) most are more strange than truly evil and most of the conflicts happening between humanity and aliens simply being the result of misunderstanding as both are such different species in physiology and thinking.
However I don't like the idea of an all powerful UN that tries to control and manipulate humanity through psychology and drugs and stunts scientific research and development just because of the possible risk that it might lead to new kinds of weapons. (the UN in the Known Space universe tries to turn humanity into pacified race devoid of aggression and ambition, and making us forget that there ever was such a thing as war. This nearly meant the end of humanity when the Kzinti showed up, teaching humanity that not every species also becomes a bunch of pacifists once they develop interstellar travel and set up colonies on other planets)
Fortunately no time travel or dimensional travel, even Artificial Intelligence do not pose a real threat as they tend to have a rather limited life span.
